It was a pleasant visit, fairly quiet today. Waited about 25 minutes with a relative to be seen. Ticket system in operation. Used the time to look at leaflets available and information on posters. The area was clean and tidy with pot plants brightening up the environment. Tables and chairs in alcoves as well as back to back seating in a line. There was an "under the sea" knitted display that looked very cheerful and colourful on the slope approaching the waiting area. It's good to look for the beauty in ordinary every day places.
BULKY WASTE RIP OFF.... Dartford collect 10 items inc electrical/fridges for £35. First collection available tomorrow. Gravesham 4 items for £28, first collection 2 weeks!! Apparently a bed is only the base, with mattress constitutes 2 items! So tenant is moving imminently, what do they do.... dump stuff. Make waste collection cheap and efficient, and rubbish will disappear from the streets. Return waste service at Pepper Hill to drop off without appoinments. FLY TIPPING IS RIFE because you make it too difficult to dispose of waste. WHY DON'T YOU PUT INFORMATION ON WEBSITE ...ie: which days rubbish is collected in streets. Grossly inefficient.
I work for a Letting Agent and had an issue with an owner of the flat above the property we managed. The owner would not fix an urgent issue which was damaging our property. The last resort was contacting environmental health department. I was contacted by a lovely man name Jim Smith, Housing Improvement Officer who was INCREDIBLE! Kept me informed of the process, was so helpful and eventually we got the issue sorted. I could not have asked for anymore from Jim and think he deserves some recognition. Thank you so much JIM! Absolute joke of a council. Will happily come knocking to receive there handout of council tax but if you actually need there help with housing and your disabled, they aren't interested. Absolutely disgusting service, should be ashamed of themselves.
On 26th May, I attempted to visit Gravesend, but had to turn back, on the account of a event, maybe the Jubilee celebration, of which I am not against. The sound was absolutely unbearable and caused pain in our ears. I phoned the council to complain, she wasn't a bit interested. If it was a normal business making that noise, they wld've been shut down, or disciplined, or fined more like. Have fun by all means, but there are all sorts of people that could suffer with noise so loud.
Once was a beautiful town that had a little pride in itself, now it looks like a wasteland from the Mad Max movie. Sick of the fly tipped rubbish everywhere, unfortunately we've allowed the wrong elements to move into the area and the council is failing badly to deal with all aspects of issues. Time to rid ourselves of the useless councillors who change nothing.
Excellent service from Repairs department today. Well done team!
Rang today to change the date for my council tax payments. Spoke to a lovely lady called Lynn and have several times over the years , always very helpful n pleasant and nothing to much for her. She also gave me some advise on something I picked her brains about. Thank you Lynn always a pleasure.
Went to prom today & the public toilets were being cleaned by Bill & his lady colleague. Each time I've visited I must say these toilets have been extremely clean & well stocked.
The people that work at the council have a tough job dealing with people in general, and a lot of the time they have to cut through a lot of red tape to do anything. That being said, they do go about things the wrong way sometimes and make things harder than they should be. Respect to the frontline staff.
