Good food and great ambiance! Lots of fun in their decorating inside. Worth the stop.
First time here and was amazed by the size and the decor. Sloping shelves, furniture upside down on the ceiling and all the furniture and lighting made from pipes. I love quirky places and this is a brilliant place for a quick drink whilst you're taking a break from shopping or a night out. Staff are friendly and there is a lovely atmosphere.
Cannot recommend at all, ordered 2 light bites and a starter, they cannot manage to serve the food at the same time, takes them 45 minutes to prepare a "steak sandwich" in an empty restaurant, meat on the sandwiches looked like the waste of the regular steaks they serve, don't even ask how you want your steak done and waiters sneaking, around looking over your shoulder, making you feel uncomfy, oh yeah, and for 12 quid, the bits of beef were charcoal, as were 2/3 of the onions and the mushrooms you had to look for with a magnifying glass.. I only ate it, as I had to pay for it as for the toilet, you might want to use some cleaner to get the stains of months from the metal
It took me forever to find a nice place for lunch in Derry, mainly pubs in that area. However, Granny Annies Kitchen & Bar provided such a lovely lunch for a price much lower than what I have expected! We were very satisfied with the service as well. So friendly and welcoming!
We figured it was just short staff as to why things were taking slow. Then figured they were making our food fresh which can take a while. But then an hour passed since we sat down and two tables who were seated after us already finished their meals. Not sure if they forgot to place our order in or what. The waitress asked what we ordered so she could check on it. Then she forgot to until we asked again. They gave us a second round of drinks on the house. We would've much left sooner but didn't have time for lunch at another place. Our long awaited food was subpar at best and the temperature didn't reflect freshness. Disappointed to spend any time here in our already limited time in Derry.
Disappointing experience with the service received at this local. We came in to have something light to eat. Ordered 1 dish of the starter menu and 2 light bites. The starter came first to the table and we thought the other 2 dishes would follow shortly since we ordered nothing else. Not the case unfortunately. They waited until the starter was finished to come and collect the plate and only then brought the other 2 dishes, after which we have been approached by the server several times to check on us, watching us, and asking repeatedly if everything is fine.
I used to love this bar but it’s gone to the dogs recently. Place has just got so dirty, the state of the carpet on the stairs and the toilets. Starting to look and smell like Wetherspoons that was there before it. Very few staff about it as well. What’s going on?
Crispy "steak" and floppy fries. Well, where should I begin? Just had the worst restaurant experience of probably my whole entire life today. The steak sandwich was a food disaster from hell. A bunch of burnt onions, two tiny pieces of mushrooms and whatever I had on my plate could barely be described as meat nevermind steak. Burnt crumbled up pieces of something resembling a sad stir fry that has been sitting on a BBQ for a day or so. My daughter was very excited looking forward to the fries but with sad eyes silently pushed the dirty mug filled with floppy, oily, raw, gummi-like potato strings away in disgust. The waiting staff decided to brighten our day by bringing out the food in different waves so we got to watch our friend eat her meal while proceeding to wait another 20 minutes for ours, well, in fairness it probably took a while to charcoal the "steak" properly. On top of all that the waitress proceeded to slowly walk through the room glaring at us and asking every few minutes if everything was okay but was never seen again after we gave her honest feedback regarding the food. Just a sad overall experience. Would never ever come back again.
Disappointed too book for my son at 06.30pm today only to be told the kitchen closed at seven!! Came the whole way from Belfast and couldn't even order a dessert ,ordered beef not available so got steak and send the wrong sauce!!! Will give it a miss the next time he's in Derry. Happy New year.
The food here was great! The servers really seemed like they just did not want to be there though. Understandable though as service jobs suck.
