Nice little place, perfect location when you're walking, we made our way up to enjoy some foods and such. I would say it's on the pricey side depending on your order, would be almost £5 for a bacon and egg sandwich. But found the sundaes reasonable. We spent £31.50 on a Ham and Cheese Toastie, a Coffee and 2 Sundaes. But the Sundae could easily be shared. Everything was very nice. Was a slight wait for things but it was busy.
11/10 Gorgeous Ice-cream! Lovely brunch menu and Afternoon tea available. There's a lovely walk around the river too. Very family friendly. Highly recommend.
Went here for an indulgent lunch of pancakes and waffles and it did not disappoint! The food was delicious and well presented. I would have liked some whipped cream on my waffles as there was so much chocolate. Next time I will ask for some. The location is lovely and cosy, I’d definitely advise booking in advance. You can get takeaway ice cream and drinks though and enjoy them on a walk down the canal.
Friendly staff in an idyllic location by a canal, and dog friendly. The full English breakfast is super with meaty fat sausages. The Ice cream sundae and pancake stack were decadent and delicious. Only gripe was how inflexible the menu was. One poached egg for my wife vs a mass of scrambled egg on my plate, but not allowed to add another egg. Can't trade icecream flavours in the sundae ‍ seemed too ridged. A great day had either way as the food and service were amazing. Would absolutely recommend.
Such a lovely day out with stunning views as you have afternoon tea, brunch, or lunch. The sundaes take you to heaven! The woman who served us was very helpful and attentive to our dog and child. Nothing was too much trouble even though they were very busy.
Went for the festive afternoon tea, and it was delicious. The portion sizes were generous, and we all had to take away our cakes in goodie boxes as we just couldnt eat it all. They catered for my allergies strawberries, oranges and kiwis with no problems. Will definitely return.
Food & Desserts are lovely and it's in a beautiful spot right by the Huddersfield Narrow Canal. Sorry to say the staff let this place down on our visit. Super slow and not at all attentive. Wasn't busy when we were there either, table next to us ended up with their drinks FOC for the same reason. We will probably come again though!
What a beautiful little gem. We came for Mothers Day and had afternoon tea. The staff were very attentive, and the food was beautiful. I will be back to have something off the Easter menu!
Unfortunately we didn’t have a great experience at grandpa greene’s we came from near Leeds to visit upon recommendation but unfortunately the level of hygiene at the establishment was not great. The table and chairs were filthy, the door to kitchen should have been a giveaway to the hygiene standards… I cleaned both tables we were seated on prior to eating and thought we would still try it out. The milk bottle had dirt inside the bottle?. The tea spoons actually no all the cutlery was dirty. The afternoon tea was definitely not fresh, tuna had dried out on the edges and gone brown from probably being kept out. But we were constantly told by the manager “ we can assure you our level of hygiene is up to standards “ Bread was chewy and not fresh.. we had one bite and one sip of tea after getting fresh milk but unfortunately all these little things were enough to put us off attempting to finish the afternoon tea. We were offered a voucher as a gesture of goodwill and to come back and give them a chance after being told that “ it was 100% fresh” this was also only after I showed her a video ok my phone of the filthy cutlery and milk bottle It’s a shame as I’ve never experienced anything like this before and we were told to understand they had been busy that day! Definitely won’t be recommending to anyone or going back either.
Visited today. I had the breakfast and my friw d had the Avocado and Poached Egg on toast. Both of us had coffees. The food was lovely. Really tasty, well presented, hot and plentiful. The coffees were very nice and creamy too. Very nice attentive staff too. Visited once just after lockdown and this was my 2nd visit and it won't be my last. Looking forward to taking the kids at Easter for some Easter treats :
