Clean plate says it all. Fish and chips with tea refills... on a little bus with lots of memorabilia. Lovely character and pretty decent grub. £18 for 2x fish and chips, one can, one tea and two slices of bread. So, about average+ pricing but standard for dining in.
Top quality products and great service. Eat in or take away you are in for a treat. Two large car parks belonging to Grandma Pollards means finding a parking space is not a problem. Family owned and run since the mid 1950s , truly a professional chippy for the 21st century. Sadly now closed down, due to Tony Pollards retirement
Great sevice and wonderful fish and chips. The vanilla slices are lovely too. Tony is still frying and very friendly. It can get busy at times as the food is cooked to order Friday evening. A little more expensive than other chippies in the area, but worth it.
Reliably consistent high quality food. We have been frequenting this establishment for around 7 years now. The frying is unique these days being with dripping rather than oils. The battery crunches and it is the only battery I will eat quite frankly - it's taste being very different to oils. We highly recommend this venue.
Positives 1. Really friendly and attentive staff. Waitress was really helpful and polite. 2. Good clean dining area indoors and a quirky old bus to dine in at the rear. Lots of outdoor dining facilities weather permitting. 3. Ample parking. 4 . Most importantly, food tastes great. Fried in dripping and reminiscent of chip shops of old. Negatives 1. A little pricey for what is a Chippy! 2. Portion size was on the small side. considering I didn't have enough change for Half a lager from a Tenner, I would expect a few more chips on the plate! All in all, worth a visit, as the food is proper old time chip shop if not a little pricey.
What a great novel idea to have fish n chips in a bus! Although price a bit steep, I would say the haddock was amazing - was offered it to be fried in vegetable oil which was a bonus. The customer service levels were fantastic and was a lovely experience. Highly recommended and we will return again soon.
By far the best chippy in the world. Great selection of chippy food and very friendly staff. You can eat in or takeaway.as this is such s good place it does get very busy so if you want to eat in you may have to wait for a table. We can recommend the fish and chips and also the rag puddings which are fantastic. The home made chocolate eclare was great as well.
The best chips in Britain. Incredible pies. Massive creamy things. Check your order before you leave if you order a lot, as they've got it wrong a few times. I appreciate any chippy that has a bus to sit in for your meal round the back. I also like the fact that they're closed on the weekends.
I like the homemade cheese and onion pie and the chips are nice too, but I agree with other reviews, the prices here are steep. The customer service is good and there is a small designated free parking area on the opposite side of the shop and theres a few seating options inside/outside and on a bus.
Fish and chips like they used to be. First time here won't be the last. Having to take a vanilla slice home cause the meal was just right but the slices look so nice I need one in my life. The only problem is I'll have to come back to try the pies, jam rolls poly and other things they have to offer.
