"The RNLI Grace Darling Museum commemorates the life of one of Victorian Britain’s greatest heroes, who risked her life to rescue nine survivors from the wrecked SS Forfarshire on 7 September 1838.At the age of 22, she risked her life to rescue the stranded survivors of the wrecked steamship Forfarshire. Her extraordinary act of bravery became internationally known, making front page news and even reaching Queen Victoria. She became the media celebrity of her day and was showered with honours, including the RNLI's Silver Medal for Gallantry.Tragically, Grace died 4 years later, aged just 26. She is still remembered for her courageous actions, and the bravery she demonstrated that night continues to inspire the values of the RNLI today."

Love this museum, visit every time we're in Bamburgh. Informative and interesting, each time there's something new added to the exhibit. Free to enter, donation given if you wish. Easy access for all. Also Grace Darling's grave is in cemetery directly opposite. Well worth taking the time to visit, and support the RNLI.Visited onWeekendWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNo
Tells the story of this brave lady who helped rescue people being shipwrecked on the Farne Islands. She buried in St Aidans Church opposite the museum, where there are also two memorials to her, one outside, and the original in the church itself.
Really good. We learned lots about how a lighthouse keeper's family lived, apart from about the rescue itself.Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNo
This is a wonderful place to visit very informative about Grace Darling and lots of exhibits including light house and the original rowing boat used in rescues, no fee but donations to RNLI welcome
Great free museum Very, very interesting story of a true hero. The information is very well presented and some interactive sections to keep kids and adults alike entertained The boat used is also on display and this item alone really captures you're imagination and attention Donation based There is a upstairs which give a nice raised perspective of the church and Grace grave opposite the museum
Brought back memories from school for my partner as he learnt about Grace back in the day, hence his interest in visiting in the first place. Found it very informative, well laid out and presented facts and artefacts.
Really educational and well laid out on the two floors. The panoramic view room has a Grace Darling short potted history film show which is enscapulating. Great for kids with lots of hands on , deffo keeps them interested. Support the RNLI by buying from the shop, they are volunteers after all. We'll worth a visit and it's FREE!
A great little museum. Free entry, some interactive elements for children. Lots of artifacts and information. Nice view across towards Lindisfarne and At Aidan's Church where Grace is buried.
Great little museum with presentation of Grace Darlings short life and heroic rescue. Very friendly and helpful volunteers, interesting exhibits and small RNLI shop. Spend about 45 mins then across the road to see Grace Darling's grave and memorial at St Aidan's Church opposite.
