Lovely cafe, lovely service and a nice selection of books. Great for a day out.Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo wait
Although a Havant resident, since discovering pun intended Gosport library I prefer the latter. Although it involves me in a tedious rail or bus journey through Portsmouth and a ferry journey across the harbour, I look forward to my regular visits, and I always include a visit to the delightful Bookworm café where the friendly staff and delicious food makes it worth the visit for that alone. But the other advantage is that there is a better selection of books than Havant in my experience I’ve just checked my current selection from Gosport and all but one are not to be found at Havant. Being old school age 81 I find the noise a bit distracting but this applies to both libraries equally and is, I recognise, a “sign of the times” [sigh]. So full marks to Gosport Discovery Centre and its busy little café.
Go every week to the book worm café it's very reasonable, great staff very friendly, who have been there for years. The food is lovely, it's a great place to meet with friends to have lunch or a coffee or to get a book from the library sit on a comfy chair with a drink and enjoy some quite time.
Recently I have spent more time in the cafe than in the library! I do know that there is a very reasonable selection of books and newspapers & magazines are available. I have seen advertised , groups that meet such as for scrabble & craft etc and a wellness group for art. How often these groups meet especially during these Covid times would need to be checked out. Computers are available which have proved useful to many. The library staff are always very helpful .In the cafe there is a good selection of food at a reasonable price . Service is quick, tables are well spaced out. The atmosphere is relaxed, especially if you decide to use the sofas!
The Gosport Library is a lovely place to visit. There is a large variety of books and they are nicely categorized so that you can find exactly what you need by looking in the right shelf. Staff are always really helpful and willing to lend a hand no matter what you might need. The library also has a cafe which serves a delectable selection of cold or hot food and drink. If you haven't been before, I definitely recommend!

I love Books. There is plenty of room for lots of organised activities and tables where you can work on your own computer or the static ones. The Bookworm Cafe sells good food; the Cheese Scones are delicious, but you have to get there early because they never make enough!! The picture gallery adds to the atmosphere.
Fabulous as usual. Always welcoming and always helpful. Its very clean. I am in a wheelchair and the staff put themselves out to carry my tray and help me. Thank you for also it being roomy so I can freely get wheelchair in and out of the cafe without having to move anything. Thanks
Found the library pleasantly quiet and not crowded, was able to browse for reading materials without having to avoid any others. Received great service from a staff member renewing my audio borrowing card.
Well .... how can I describe this library, which is also called The Discovery Centre. Many thoughts come to mind, but in short I would say that this is quite an impressive meeting place for people of all ages. It is in fact the first time I have found a library being so proactive and helpful. A library that takes part and gives to the local community ... indeed it is a discovery centre, as many people arrive and are well impressed with the range of FREE activities being offered on a daily basis, from languages five of them! in their so called cultural clubs ... to any kind of craft and art activity, computing, literacy, local historical information, the list is never ending! The coffee shop serves some very good quality food and beverages. In short it is a great place to meet in a very safe environment. Well done !
