Fab fab fab fab fab. A great afternoon tea at a very reasonable price. If you are in the area I highly recommend stopping by Gorgeous Gertie's!
Lovely sandwiches and delicious cakes with free top ups of tea but is a bit squashed. Lovely small shop and very friendly. We did book in advance but asked to be moved from table as we were in the gangway which was done with no trouble at all.
If only their food tasted as good as the place looks! Lovely decor, but the afternoon tea included Tesco-quality sandwiches honestly some of the worst I had in my life, very average cakes, and the "clotted cream" was pre-packaged and as hard as a rock. Never again.
I love Gorgeous Gerties! This is a box of memories with a passionate spark! This is "Vintage" without any tackiness. The music is just right. The food is just right. The goods are good! The tea room has a magic of it's own, and I've found it to be scrupulously clean, tidy and inviting. More than anything else though, the staff are wonderful.
Given up on trying! Gorgeous Gerties is one of those shops that I really wanted to get to know and to like. When it first opened I tried going in a few times, only not to get served. I assumed this was just because they were overrun at the time, and so let it go. I've given it several more times over the years, ignored at the counter each time or waiting for ages for someone to suddenly appear, but this is now ridiculous. I had family over from Belgium and wanted to show them the shop - besides, the local fares in the shop would have made excellent souvenirs. However, as I've experienced in the past, we made a selection from the shop and waited down at the counter. A few people who looked like employees passed us, sorting those who were having tea or something to eat...but after about 5 minutes although it felt much longer I made my apologies for the family and got us out of there. I've heard some terrific things about Gerties - I just wish I could get some service! Please note that this review is simply of the shop section - I have not tried going in for tea or food.
Cake was tasty . I would put 4and a half but not sure how to do the half bit! Just felt that the place felt cold not enough heatingThe other 2 though liked their omelette with salmon and toastie too . Pretty good if toasties a bit too pricey.
I can't believe after all these years, that this cafe is closing. This is hands down the best place to get a filling and delicious sandwich followed by a tasty and delightful cake in Dorking. It's really disheartening and a shame to see one of the best places go, leaving mostly average options. Typical.
We love going to Gertie's. Cozy and friendly with good service and selection. Some small toys to keep little ones amused and gluten free options available. Always a nice selection of things to look at and buy too.
Loved this place. An aladdin cave of gifts as well as haberdashery items as well. It has 3 floors whereby the ground floor has a tea shop serving tea, cakes and light lunches. You can have afternoon tea as well.
Clean, friendly staff, good food choices. Why is this gem closing next month? Criminal that not enough done to keep small businesses operating in this area when there is plenty of custom.
