An amazing garden centre , excellent displays for Christmas, loved the grotto especially as many have not had them re pandemic. Enjoyed all the displays in the garden centre and will be going back there. It was my first visit so can't wait to see what they have for spring
Nice garden centre with friendly staff. Lots of choice and offers in the shop, currently spring bulbs are on offer. Great café for a quick meal or coffee.
As we had been to the Christmas fair in the garden centre we decided to visit the bistro for lunch and a hot drink. It was really busy but we got a table easily enough. I went to order, food for us both, coffee and tea for me. My husbands coffee was fine but after pouring my tea I noticed lipstick on my cup, plus both teaspoons felt sticky and a bit gritty. I went back to the counter to have them changed and a fresh cup for me. No problem, I was given a clean cup minus my tea. Diane, the lady serving coughed into her hands and continued serving. She didn't wash her hands. I was so glad I'd paid by card so I wasn't given change!. Not very good.
Good selection of plants, shrubs and trees for this time of year. All internal and external gardening needs seem to be catered for. We had a very nice lunch in the restaurant which had a good choice of foods cooked to order. It did get busy around 12.00 - 12.30.
I visited this cafe 4 days ago and awarded 5 stars because of a brilliant coffee and cake. Impressed, I returned today for a full English breakfast, which resulted in this edit and a downgrade to only 4 stars. It seems a great place for coffee and cake but not so great for a full meal. I’ve done separate reviews of each. COFFEE & CAKE Nice garden centre with large car park, gifts and seasonal decorations and cafe. The cafe is upstairs, but there is a lift to the right of the customer service desk as you enter. Cappuccino was 3.00, large vanilla slice was 3.10 delivered to table. FULL ENGLISH BREAKFAST Looked fantastic on plate, but wasn’t as good as it looked in the eating. The tomato had the look of having been grilled, but was stone cold. The mushrooms looked lovely, but were barely warm. The bacon looked fine, but was cold. The toast was cold. The coffee was lukewarm. This was really disappointing. Would return for coffee and cake, but certainly wouldn’t spend almost ten pound on a lovely looking but poorly cooked breakfast.
Just been in cafe, waited 35 mins for egg on toast while people who ordered after were getting full meals before us. After letting them know after 15 mins, Still no result, let them know 2nd time and the waitress turned her back on me. The food came but at this stage, was uncomfortable in eating it. Poor chef, poor cleanliness, poor customer service, waitress's are a law unto themselves as ignorance.
Had to ask for table to be cleared, notice many other tables had to ask also. table cleaner and cloth left, so cleaned table myself Long wait for Sunday Lunch never told how long the wait was going to be !? only for the food to arrive only just warm no Yorkshire pudding Will not eat here again very disappointed
Considering the current climate my first visit today I queued for 5 minutes I then went back for a second visit and only queued for 15 minutes. The staff were very helpful and polite. I even haggled a price which they thought was a good haggle. I went in this morning and seen a good setup, being VJ Day it was good to see. Well done Guys.
Had breakfast bap and hot chocolate. Very nice. Also bought a few birthday cards. ----------------- This week had toasted currant teacake and a pot of tea. Had a quick look round. Some lovely soft furnishings, ornaments, votives, diffusers etc. Lots of gardening stuff around now ready for spring. Watering cans, seeds, tools, kids wellies etc
Always a great choice of plants! I wish it could be a little bit cheaper and maybe with wider range of herbs I would visit more often.
