I couldn't fault the food but as you can see in the pictures provided the place is an absolute dump The seats were disgusting with ripped coverings and were filthy and the tables are sticky, the decor is tattered, curtains are removed from conservatory for obvious reasons. Some of the chairs have had temporary covers put on them so they must be aware of how bad it is. Shame really because we came here 6 years ago and thought it was superb. Like I said can't fault the food but my God how dirty is it
Food was very nice, took a little while to be served. Wouldn't recommend the hot chocolate, however the staff were kind and swapped it for a coke instead. They do have a play area for children here. You can eat in the room where there is a play area but it is very cold in there. If your eating in the restaurant whilst the kids play, there are monitors showing the play area so you can keep an eye, however one of the cameras wasn't working which was a shame. I did really like that the play area was suitable for a 3 year old. Some play areas are really big and they are not quite tall enough to climb but this play area was perfect.
Waited to be shown to our table for around 15 minutes! Booked table for 6 adults 3 children, but shown to two separate tables, after complaining showed us to a table they said was reserved for us but full of dirty plates & glasses which they then cleaned but table was still really sticky and unclean, floor was absolutely disgusting with food everywhere! We ordered 2 carvery meals which they said were sold out, both the starter and main were sold out that was ordered by one of our party, it took well over an hour from arriving for our starters to arrive, then the main courses were ages later, the medium steak ordered was very well done and both medium rares ordered were medium at best. We will not be returning as the whole experience was very disappointing to say the least and the state of the tables and floor was absolutely disgusting and completely unhygienic, maybe health and safety should pay a visit!
Haven't been for years as children now all teenagers ... Sorry to say nothing has improved. Understaffed the poor guy serving on the till was obviously working as quickly as he could. Took over 40 mins for our food to arrive. When food arrived part of a couple of the dishes was missing... Tiny piece of bacon on one dish .. burnt chicken that was replaced with a questionable replacement piece... Cold sausages, raw " onion" rings that appeared to be missing the actual onion.. Couldn't fault the young lady who sorted us free deserts...but when you can hear other tables complaints too not good. We won't be back in a hurry... Certainly wasn't worth the money. Only giving 2 stars not 1 due to the desert
We went out for a family meal four adults and two children. We had to wait for 50 minutes to receive all our meals. We had two meals first by the time rest had received theirs, the first two had finished their meals. The food was fine but no explanation as to why our food took so long.Food: 4/5
Relaxed & cheerful. Good family value. Kiddie friendly. Shame they were short staffed when I visited which meant that the soft play area was closed off and the wait to order food & drinks was very disappointing. However the staff that eventually served me were doing there best and remained cheerful under difficult circumstances.Food: 3/5
Disappointing visit , short staffed which left tables not cleared very messy and left the few staff there to try and cover every job which was not their fault. Told could not have the carvery even though plenty of food was still being brought out. The food was about standard for brewers but really think if they don’t have enough staff to cope then they should limit customers allowed in to eat or shut as everybody was complaining and that’s not good busy sense as we won’t be returning
Awful experience all round. Festive menu not available on the week of Christmas. 2 other meal choices that we tried to order were also unavailable. Only some of us were served food due to a gas problem but we were not offered any discount or compensation for this. Ordered two kids meals but didn’t realise we had to order the main and pudding at the same time to get the deal price so instead of charging us the deal price we were charged more. Kids puddings came out wrong, had to be sent back and when they came back out again they were appalling portion sizes. Everyone was disappointed, customer service wasn’t very sympathetic either.
The only reason this place is getting a two star is because the first night was OK, however on the second night it was a let's say Experience I will not forget. I walked in at around half 7 at night and I was greeted to a line to order a drink and food which I was in for around 10 15mins. As well as this I was seated at one table which was reserved then moved to a second which was already taken and finally I was seated to a third which thankfully wasn't taken! As this was happened they then had to move my food to and from each table, which made me feel for the chefs as they must have thought it was some kind of joke. By the looks of it the staff are completely clueless on how to run a pub. I believe the management and owners need to get together and make a plan around what they need to do to successfully run the pub correctly and efficiently. I hope for the future of this place they get it right.
Ordered a festive special rump steak Wellington, the first one which came out was pretty chewy but think it was just a poor cut of meat. Sent it back and the second was was lovely. The sauce was flavoursome and roasties were light and fluffy too. I normally avoid roasties from chains but these actually surprised me, I thoroughly enjoyed them. The staff were great and super helpful. They were very apologetic too when I asked to send the first one back and made the effort to check on me to see if the second one was better. Couldn't fault them, polite and friendly :
