Been coming here since I was a kid and never get bored. Moved away from the area now but still come down just for glentress. Great facilities too and new showers. Cafe for a stop at the bottom of the hill. Great for mountain bikers and hikers. Dog-friendliness: Dog friendly cafe and walking trails
Had a solo trip and travelled 3 and a half hours to ride and camp. I've been before a d rode black and red so I started on the black this time. A few diversions in place but still an ok ride. The climbing is brutal but the downs make up for it. The Scenery is amazing and the forest in places is very dark. The trails definitely need some TLC as seem to be puddles in front of all the jumps and braking bumps are huge in some places. Didn't enjoy it as much as last time. Did the blue in the afternoon and thoroughly enjoyed it. Will return if the trails are upgraded.
Incredible mountain bike trails, stunning views and fantastic facilities... Highly recommended for families and expert mountain bikers alike. Book your next holiday here and you won't be disappointed! Public Transportation: Easy bus connections from numerous towns in Tweed Valley. Closest are Peebles and Innerleithen but can also recommend Galashiels as a base. There are on site glamping pods here too.
My first visit to the trails. I was in the area for a few days. Brilliant mountain bike trails. I have limited off road experience but managed the blue route with little difficulty.Recommended activitiesBiking
I went here about a month ago and it was minus 5 when I arrived and it was like that the whole time. The old trail is good fun and the same for the new. I tried all the trails minus the blacks due to the ground conditions but also this didn't help for the other downhill trails. I'd like to come back when it's less busy and warmer and maybe spend the whole day here. Parking: You enter the car park and when you're ready to leave you enter your reg number and pay the fee and drive out.. simples.
The red trail is my go to when I visit. It provides a wide variety of surfaces; rutted, rooty, rocky, gravel and mud. Decent elevation gain and you truly feel you have explored the forrest The new trails are a fantatsic addition to the trail centre. Steep and flowing with high banked berms on hard pack and clayey surfaces, which depending on your location these can save a long drive to the alternatives of similar nature [Tarland & Laggans new trails] There can also be some cracking views of the valley on display... ...if the weather behaves! The only negative in my option is that its very popular so can be rather conjested at times. If you are looking for a uninterrupted run I'd recommend getting there early doors. Apologies that the photos are not of the trails I'd rather ride that snap photos but rather a view of the valley from the top of the new trails and a cracking sunrise caught on the drive over.
Spent a few days riding at Glentress and the surrounding areas. We stayed in Peebles and cycled every day to the trail centre easy 3.5 miles on a cycle path a lot of the trails were partially closed or diverted due to huge regeneration/upgrade of the site - trails and all facilities. In fact the cafe, shops and carpark were all shut down being totally refurbished. We've ridden at Glentress a few times before - it has something for every type of rider. We did a coaching course with Andy from Dirt School on the one day which we would thoroughly recommend for all levels of mtb riding.
First visit here and it's awesome!! Everyone we spoke to was loving it. 74kms of trails and so many different ways to go. Taster trails at the start so you can get an idea of what to expect. Cafe, bike shop and showers on site and all day parking is £6. Free bike wash is a bonus too I will definitely be back soon Parking: Big car park Fees: Half an hour free 1hr £3 3hrs £4 All day £6 Restrooms: Toilets in cafe and in the shower block
Had a great experience renting from these guys and the trails are really good. Was going to rent another ebike to go with my mate but it’s doubled in price and £105 for 3/4 hours is a bit out of my price range. Looks like they are fully booked so I guess they are just doing business but feels steep.
Loving the new trail system. Got it spot on.Recommended activitiesHiking, Running, Biking, Dog Walking, Birdwatching, Walking
