The scenic walk is probably my favourite walk in NI. It's fairly long takes me a bit over 2 hours and steep but the views are so worth it! The walk to the waterfall is also really nice and much shorter and easier. Even the view from the carpark/picnic area is lively if you just wanted to take a picnic lunch/watch the view.
Glenariff forest park is a must see if you're visiting Northern Ireland. It's located just 1 hour drive north of Belfast and is very accessible by car. Arriving at the location I was surprised to see that parking for cars was £5 for the day and even more for vans, luckily when we got there the parking metre wasn't working so we got it for free. There are 3 different walks you can take each ranging in distance from a short 1 km, 3km and 8.9 km. I would recommend the waterfall trail 3km which takes well under an hour and is a very easy walk although the uphill part is quite steep. On the waterfall trail you get amazing views of the waterfalls and it feels like you're somewhere exotic. Well worth a visit.
Did the Scenic Walk which is 5.5miles or so. Walk starts at the main carpark which now costs £5 for an all day ticket following the black arrow way markers. Parts of the walk at the beginning are steep but paths level out, rest of the inclines are more gradual. Moderate fitness levels will find this walk very doable. Absolutely beautiful views from the top, can see for miles. Best views on a clear day. Small benches are situated throughout to have a rest and soak in the scenery. Walk takes approximately 2.5 hours. Well worth doing.
Visited 07/03/22 With a bit of sunshine on a clear day the views this place provides are incredible! The car park is £5 which is on the expensive side but you could easily spend the day here. There are multiple trails between 1k and 9k long. There are toilets and picnic tables as well as a cafe/gift shop. Would definitely come back.
We took the scenic trail and it covers the waterfall trail too. We completed the walk in 3.5 hours as we were stopping everywhere to click photos and also for grabbing wild raspberries, Blueberries and strawberries that grow in the whole route. Tge views are mesmerizing and the walk is completely worth for the beauty it offers.
A fantastic visitors site that is free to public and only £5 car parking fee. Lots of amazing scenic views including 2 waterfalls. Which may not be clearly shown on maps. The cafe and shop are friendly. However, not all items are clearly marked and need to check carefully when paying.
First time here and we loved it carpark is £5 for all day parking. We took the Waterfall trail first which was 2 miles stunning scenery . Then had. Lunch there is a cafe which a good selection and reasonably priced. Toilets available too. After lunch we decided to the scenic trial which was 5 miles which definitely got the heart pumping but was worth it. We just wore trainers today because it was dry. It was so peaceful and tranquil definitely worth a visit. And lastly which I forgot to mention there's a bar called lagan's Lodge at the end of the Waterfall trail which was a surprise they also do but unfortunately didn't get to try.
Beautiful spot. Great hike along the waterfalls route with the kids. Plenty of photo opps for photographers. Great in autumn. Good tip is to time it after bad weather as there'll be less footfall, and more water cascading down the waterfalls. Paths are quite narrow around the main waterfall and on this particular day there were people hogging the bridge for a selfie. I imagine it would be worse on a hot day. This is a minor issue however and i thoroughly enjoyed the scenery and the exercise.
The park was great and the forestry was awesome but the signage was terrible. We couldn't actually find the falls which was the main thing we went to see. We didn't eventually uncover them but no thanks to the signs .... and the tea rooms closed at 3:30!
This place was a hidden gem. It was beautiful as we hiked down even in the wind and the rain. The fall colors were incredible. The signage was a bit misleading about distance of the waterfall from the car lot. It was significantly longer than 1 km. Restrooms: Nice and clean. Open during off season.
