One of the best tours I've ever done. Paul shares his knowledge of the railways and history of this incredible building with stories of the people who lived and worked here. From hysterically funny to devastatingly powerful... this was a cracking tour. Get yourself along. Take your friends, your family, grab a stranger off the street - they need to enjoy this too.
Had a fabulous afternoon at the Glasgow Central Tours. It's about 1.5 hrs long and it takes you under the station and tells you about the history of it over the past +100 years. There will be a new attraction coming in the next couple of months. There is an abandon platform under the station which is in the process of being transformed into a Victorian station along with a steam locomotive and two carriages. It's still worth a visit right now and the tour guide, Paul has lots of great stories and will keep you well entertained.
What a fantastic tour Paul the guide is both entertaining and full of knowledge Spend about 1 1/2 hours learning about the history of Central Station. Very poignant part of the tour was learning about the involvement during WW1 Definetly worth it.
We all met up outside boots and Jackie took us through the tour of the station with lots of stories and Information. I would recommend this even if you are not interested in trains as it's really about the stories of Glasgow Central and its history. We will go back in a few years time to see if they have made any updates as it was that good.
We did the tour as part of a surprise for my birthday, Paul was first class, conducting 'Happy birthday' which was a total surprise. What a start! The tour was really interesting, Paul's knowledge and enthusiasm towards the history of the station is out of this world. To have a tour guide who can be down to earth, funny and as knowledgeable as he is made this tour such an enjoyable hour and a half. There were parts of the station that have a story to tell and Paul put it into words expertly, there is a projector that shows images that really touch the heart. The museum is just amazing, put together so well and a credit to Paul and Jackie who have worked so hard to show the history of the station and other stations. We look forward to seeing how the work that they have planned evolves. Glasgow Central Station is a tour that I would recommend for anyone wanting to learn about the history of the station. Paul was such a good host, the railway seems to run through his blood and that's why you need to go and do the tour.
Had a fantastic and very well delivered tour by Jackie. From start to finish it was fun and informative. Great gettingbto see all the other areas of a station we all know so well and the history of the station. Very interesting and recommendedVisited onWeekendWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedYes
Be warned: You'll see an underground car park and some corridors and not much else on this tour. While the history of Glasgow is interesting there's about 45 minutes of material stretched into two hours here. The highlight is the old steam train platform — but that is the only part of the tour where you see anything unexpected. For hardcore train enthusiasts only.
A wonderful experience, made all the more fab by our guide Jackie. Her passion for the place is awesome and her story telling is superb. Will definitely be back when she gets her latest project commissioned.
Fantastic tour led by Jackie taking you beneath the station concourse and platforms. Fascinating stories told with great talent!Visited onWeekendWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedYes
Really odd how they only have tours on random days. Website says they are 2 guides but one books a week off work so they have to close and do no tours for the whole week! What happened to the other guide?! Why not employ enough guides? Why not ensure all guides don’t book the same week off as each other? Embarrassing and amateur. No wonder our railways don’t work when network rail can’t even run tours properly. If someone is visiting Glasgow for a specific week they can’t wait until a week when the guides decide to come into work! Really poor. Why do tours at all if the dates are so random and only published at the last minute!?
