I'm just glad I can get something affordable for lunch that is NOT a sandwich. The service was good, the food was very good, and for £5.80 I got a meatball pasta with drink included prices start at £4.90. There are also other options, like pizza slices and risotto. I wish there were more of these around London.
Basic and relatively affordable pasta - just about acceptable quality for the price. If it was priced any higher, it would be a terrible proposition given all the options in the area. But nothing can save the coffee - just awful, irrespective of the price. My advice would be that if you haven't trained your staff to make a proper flat white then you shouldn't have it on the menu.
I have ordered a chicken Gorgonzola pasta. Some say the price is good value but I totally disagree with it. I paid £6.80 for this and unfortunately the size of the portion is rather on the small size for what you pay. In terms of chicken slices I think there must have been around 50g of it... You probably get more chicken in a sandwich at Tesco Express etc. For such prize I could have had a meal deal plus extra snack and I would have ended up satiated. I am still hungry after having eaten the small portion. Taste was good but I couldn't taste the Gorgonzola much. It is an okay option if you have had enough of Pret and want an alternative. But I definitely shan't go back.
I had a vegetarian option pasta and it was honestly worse than what I can cook at home. tasted like tinned tomato sauce. Either they have only designed the meat dishes to be tasty, or all their food is rubbish. Not sure.
I'd been three times before this time and had the carbonara and gorgonzola. Both were pretty average, being fairly similar but it was a average cheesy pasta if that is what you are in the mood for. Today however, I got a king prawn risotto and it was inedible. There were two prawns in the entire thing, it hadn't been seasoned in any way shape or form and contained so much melted butter that that was ALL it tasted of and it dripped off the fork. I didn't eat it and before I threw it away it cooled slightly that if I tilted it to one side a literal pool of melted butter filled the side of the pot. I shan't be going back.
I went here to grab my morning coffee, I am lactose intolerant and asked for a soya latte. They mixed up my order and gave me a normal latte. When I pointed this out to the staff, they were very rude and said 'so?'. I cannot believe allergies were not taken seriously. What is more, I had taken a sip of my normal non-soya latte and I was very ill for the rest of my working day. I am very disappointed. The staff embarrassed me in front of the whole shop and made me feel like my allergy was unimportant. I was not offered any compensation and was basically shown the door.
If I could give this restaurant less than one star I would. I wouldn't have served this pasta to my dog. It was over-cooked, bland, dry and lacking in ingredients. The fact that this restaurant is owned by a celebrity chef i'd have thought he would take more pride in his restaurant, clearly not. Would never return.
When I explained that my Carbonara had one piece of Panchetta in it, i was told this is how the sauce comes and we can do nothing about it. Carbonara with one piece of panchetta is not carbonara. Sub standard food and service.
Price is reasonable but the standard of pasta was a little below par. The sauce was lacking and I would say the pasta overcooked. A shame as it is quite conveniently located for me
Mr DCampo Are used to purchase your meals from Iceland but they decided in their infinite wisdom to cut half of the recipes so less was available I wrote to Iceland and got an answer back saying if I could tell them about the product they would look into it why should they ask this if they are representing your name and your product I have also written to your accountant hoping he will forward On my email but no such luck it is clear that you are resting on your laurels of your TV appearances and don’t really care about your restaurant or food very very disappointing perhaps somebody may contact me and tell me where else we can obtain your products or do we just leave it and purchased similar meals Elsewhere I trust I may get an answer back but I will not hold my breath Geoff Hodge
