Some lovely vegan dishes here. We have been for lunch and dinner on a few occasions. Vegan options are clearly marked on the menu. There is one vegan option on the lunch menu for each course - more on the main dinner menu. Lunch menu is reasonably good value - but portions are smaller than the regular menu, if that matters to you. The curries don't come with rice or breads so don't forget to order them, if needed.
2022-12-28 lunch Service was a little slow, but very kind and friendly. Lovely decor "Two giggling squids" platter £14 - Salt and pepper squid was outstanding, very tender with amazing breading. Chicken curry was also lovely, the coconut cream shone through. Giggling wings were average. Slow cook chicken £12 - Excellent. Chicken was expertly marinated. Thai salad was also lovely Giggling pad thai prawn £10.5 - ironically quite mediocre despite the namesake. Noodles lacked browning. Unremarkable flavor.
Love that their chicken menu is halal. One of the few halal options in Stratford upon Avon. My favour dish is pad Thai, one of the best I’ve ever had. Their interior and branding is so unique and gorgeous. They have sea animals painted as flowers as their Branding on menus and wall paper. They whole look is unique and gorgeous
What a cracking restaurant! As you'll see from the photos, our group tried a range of foods. All were well presented, and tasted amazing. Only the fish dish wasn't as good as anticipated, but the staff instantly retified it. First class restaurant, and exceptional service.
This was our first time visiting Giggling Squid on recommendation from a family member, and it did not disappoint. Being pescatarian, it can sometimes be tricky to find a good range of options, but this menu was a delight. The food was really tasty. The service was great. We will definitely return on our next visit to Stratford.Food: 5/5
We had an excellent meal here. We visited based on the great reviews and hadn’t booked, thankfully they were able to squeeze us in. The staff were very attentive and if anything a little to quick between courses. The prawn crackers had only been with us for a few minutes when the mains arrived. We ordered chicken massaman and sticky chicken along with sticky rice and noodles. One thing to point out is that the sticky rice is advertised as to enjoy with rice or noodles, my mum interpreted that as they were included so was surprised to be charged £6 for the noodles. The food was fantastic but we just felt a little rushed to eat and drink fast.
The food was so satisfying. Husband and I enjoyed the crispy seafood and pad thai. Desserts were ok but the sesame ice cream and caramel souffle was good. delicious lychee drink as well! highly recommended. very good service too.Food: 5/5
Nice and tidy enviornment but pity the Dong Yum noodles was not Dong Yum at all. The other courses aside i.e. spring rolls and pork dumpling are fine in taste but the 'Dong Yum' was just sweet and chilli soup. The flavour lack of all the esssential elements to make it taste as it should be no lime or lemon, no tomato, lemon grass, galanga or ginger at least, or optional coconut milk.. I even tried to ask for vinegar or ketchup to 'save' this soup but unavailable. The staff did not follow up on why I asked for these flavourings nor doing any quality check, or else I would politely offer the above comment on-site. The portion is relatively small even for ladies as well.
Possibly the best Thai food ensemble we've had the pleasure of enjoying outside of Thailand itself. The staff accommodated us very late in the day with a big smile and a warm welcome after a previously disappointing evening in the town. The starters being the first course to arrive, were beautifully presented and delightful to eat - it left us hotly anticipating the next course! The main course didn't disappoint - it too was presented well, served hot and the flavours delicious. We thoroughly enjoyed our evening at the Giggling Squid. The exceptional quality of the food was only further personified by the warmth of the staff and superb interior of the restaurant itself. And what's more, it won't burn a monster hole in your budget, either.
This was our 2nd trip to the Giggling Squid in Stratford upon Avon. If you are visiting the area you should really give it a try. The quality of food, friendly staff and atmosphere is amazing.
