Had a coffee and a bite in the cafe. The environment is very restful and the garden/yard tastefully done. The inside is large with refectory style seating but bright and airy. The coffee was excellent, albeit service a little slow and it is obviously a pinch point in the queueing system, so maybe they should have more servers. Well worth a visit for the restful ambience and the profits help with the upkeep of the stunning cathedral.
Excellent gift shop with very friendly staff must be a feature of the area. Lots of items of different sorts and for various budgets. Recommend popping in even if you don't enter the cathederal.
I think that when you first see Winchester Cathedral It can have a particular effect upon you. It can certainly leave a lasting impression. I knew a little bit about churches and cathedrals beforehand. But Winchester is really a King of Kings. So I was not very familiar with the technology of the cathedral. But I knew that it would take me a long time to learn. The relatively small gift shop is a great contrast to the massive Cathedral Hall. But its shelves are very nice and well stocked with goodies including, books , clothing accessories, toys, household utensils, confectionery, beverages, pictures, collectables etc The staff are always super helpful and friendly.
Mid Sunday morning coffee break. Not very busy at the time of our visit. Our first visit for sometime, new fresh look, since our last visit. Always good service and food
Second time to visit good lunch again
