Popped in for dinner. Nice layout and very welcoming staff, friendly, helpful, and attentive, especially the young man in the restaurant upstairs . The views out to the sea and beach were fantastic. The food was well presented and hot and good pub grub. If I had one criticism, the upstairs area was, let's say, a tad cold .Food: 4/5
I remember this hs always been one of the the best places for a Sunday roast, but since going vegan I wasn't sure they would cater, the menu doesn't say. However I called ahead and they confirmed they could, we went in and it was fabulous. Definitely they besr Sunday roast and reasonably priced too. It wasn't as busy as usual but that might be as there was a good festival going on. Vegetarian options: Vegan sausage was available as the veggie option for the roast, very nice. Dietary restrictions: They prepared separate gravy and veg that didn't have butter on.
Brilliant food and amazing atmosphere. The food was tasty and they had a homemade cheese cake that they had made on the day. It was lovely but the cream on top was not necessary. Huge portions of onion rings and the chunky chips are definitely chunky.
Sunday carvery and fish and chips were both great. Food came out very quickly which was great. All staff extremely helpful and friendly. Look forward to coming back.Recommended dishesFish & Chips
Quite disappointed. It has such potential. Sitting on top of a cliff overlooking a bay of the North Sea. Wanted to sit outside and enjoy the view. Guy inside someone would come out to take my order. After 25 minutes went back inside. Told the guy I'll just sit inside and placed my order. 20 minutes later someone else came to the table and asked if I'd ordered. Said I think I have. Told her what I had ordered and ~10 minutes later got my food. Ordered fish and chips. Chips weren't cooked all the way through and the fish was extremely greasy. Left a puddle on the plate. Yes it was only 9.95, but expected better.
Brilliant bar, serves great freshly cooked food more resteraunt style food. Friendly staff, good veiws out over the sea and Tynemouth Priory.
Went there incidentally. I was with friends and we only tried the coffee and cake, they were okay. However what I loved is the place and the view from the second floor! It was beyond beautiful and very cosy. Stayed there for a long time working on my laptop as it was very quiet, and must say, that the service was very good as well, the staff were very friendly and nice. Would definitely go there again just for the service and the view.
We booked here for Sunday lunch while hosting family from down south, haven't been in many years, but it's always had a great reputation. The menu was varied, even on a Sunday, there was plenty choice with people from the party ordering things like sweet chilli chicken wraps, fish and chips, to pie and of course the well known carvery, I had the carvery myself and it was lovely, meat and veg all fresh and everyone else was more than happy with their food too, apparently the fish was one of the nicest they had ever had! Most people finished with a dessert, I had the chocolate brownie, which was probably up there with the nicest I have ate, drizzled in white chocolate, beautiful! The staff were also friendly and attentive, which means alot, really looking forward to paying a visit again, the views alone from the window are worth it.
Superb carvery, 3 types of meat available and vegetables were fantastic. Great value for money and nice atmosphere. Staff were very friendly and efficient. Lovely views of coast from a nice warm pub. Would recommend to anyone. Probably the best carvery I have had in ten years and I have eaten in over 100 restaurants in London.Food: 5/5
Wed 14 Feb 2018. Haven't been here for quite some time. Enjoyed the lunch carvery although the downside was the cabbage was still raw and chewy...couldn't eat all. Won't be put-off coming back though Wed 14 Mar 2018. Both hubby and I had beef n turkey carvery today and it was fantastic. Meat was so tender and veggies just right. The carrots were glazed and roasted today and I enjoyed themIt is so worth £10 for two. You couldn't make it for that price. Well done to all staff Wed 21 Mar 2018. Enjoyed a roast beef carvery today. It was very busy and lucky to get a seat downstairs Wed 18 Apr 2018. Had turkey carvery today and disappointed with meat service considering we were there for 12 noon. The old timer serving needs the lads to show him how to carve... and sharpen the knife constantly! Hubby weren't impressed with anything 3/10 from him!
