The rooms were very very tired, but clean I suppose. The food however was Fantastic. Amazing value for money and a typical Scottish menu which my colleagues from England loved. Staff were very friendly.Rooms: 1/5
I had dinner here, solo diner away with work. Service was friendly and quick. The meal was nice but massively oversized portion. I ordered a salad and couldn't believe how many extras it came with. There's no way anyone could possibly eat it all and I was hoping for a dessert but definitely no room. Next time I'll try the smaller portions.
Only had a lunch time meal, so can’t comment on accommodation. My wife ordered macaroni cheese, something simple you may think, something you couldn’t go far wrong with you would think, something most of us could make at home and make a reasonable job. It arrived with what can only be described as macaroni in a cheese soup a very thin soup at that with slices of garlic bread sitting in the liquid, obviously having gone soggy. Neither I nor my wife would send anything back to a kitchen any kitchen out of concern that it may have been tampered with. My wife ate the macaroni and the bread that hadn’t gone soggy. When the plates were removed from the table, we were asked if everything was ok, she expressed her disappointment at the macaroni, the reply was “oh I did think it was a bit watery when I brought it out” another, I assume more senior waitress said “it’s a new chef” I won’t write her what said to my wife I paid the bill and after doing so said “I would have thought, given the macaroni experience there would have been some reduction” the response was “well your wife ate the macaroni” Even it it had only been a token gesture it would have saved me writing this review here and on any other forum I find the George hotel on
The food was average but expensive and the service was not great but the rooms were clean, tidy and airy, shower was a bit small though.Rooms: 4/5
Food wax outstanding as always. Customer service has improved since last here which was great. Really nice atmosphere. Food & drinks: Best food in town.
An expensive experience for what it was. Used to North East England prices and the george were 15 to 20% more. Didn't stay so no comment on the room. Enjoyed the food and might save up and go back Rooms: 3/5
The staff couldn't have been more helpful. Lovely atmosphere, great food at dinner time, prompt service at breakfast clean rooms and just all round extra positive experience. Really glad we decided to stay there. Will definitely return in futureRooms: 5/5
