Best mince and onion pies I’ve had. I’ve been a pie eater all my life. Ate pies from many a butchers and shop around the North East. When they say who ate all the pies.. it was me! Especially if they were Gelders. Never really enjoyed pies since.
I always loved the pies from Gelder's. My favorite pie was the mince. Had just the right amount of Gravy. I'm sad to see them with such a low score. I'm giving the 5 stars, my mum still buy's their pies & she says they are still as lovely as ever !
The mince pies are too grisly and gravy too thick, the curry pies taste like hen not chicken. You might be after more profit as hen is cheaper, I know I work in a shop but it's tough and rank. The steak meat is tough I've tasted various of products and your quality has gone down hill rapidly since Alan Gelder is no longer there
The Gelder name was known to us from way back so over the past month or so we've tried their individual steak pies, steak and onion pie plate pie and mince plate pie. All have been very disappointing. In each case the pastry was too thick. With the steak pies there were no chunks of meat, which is what I would expect, it was simply mushy. In the case of the mince pie there was a very thin spread of mince over the base. None of the pies were at all flavoursome, in fact they were almost totally lacking in flavour. Regrettably we will definitely avoid them in future.
Sadly the taste and consistency of your pie filling was very disappointing. It was a jelly like mush of questionable beef content, and equally disappointing pastry. I purchased them from Tesco Express in Heaton and the expiry date was April 2015 and served them hot. You can and must do better if your reputation is to improve. Being a regular pie eater I feel able to comment objectively on your product. I will try them again in three months time and see what improvements, if any you have made. More quality mince and less 'Goo' would help.
The pies from here are worse than what you'd get in the £1 shop. The meat has grisle in, the slabs taste like someone spilt the pepper pot into it and made them inedible. When you order stuff it's never there, even though they supposedly pride themselves on making everything fresh you can't get what you want. So pleased I don't pay for my buffet stuff I need coz my relation works there but feel really sorry for the people that do pay for it. Plus I've still got to serve it at my end, at least what I can. Wish I could give a negative star but I wouldn't let me
bought a pack of 2 cheese topped shepherds pies, the pastry was soggy can i suggest that they are baked longer
Piss takes this company it’s took them 3 month to sort wages out and still nothing has been done ! Not one person who works in the place holds a food Hygiene or anything and they let people smoke drugs at the side of the building they need shutting down
They dont like constructive criticism... Lost my job after leaving a review here... Be carefull they will go thier ends to trace your employer.... Why they are on here is beyond me....
Best Sausage Rolls just like how granny used to make really worth a try !
