Gorgeous. Parking is free. Hall and cafe were closed when we visited but plenty of space to walk around and the grounds were perfect for a picnic. Gardens were small but had lots of plant variety- could have been more maintained as some parts were overgrown. Definitely worth a visit. Toilets and cafe on-site. Would return again when the hall is open.
Been here many times but felt it wasn't being used to the best, there are large rooms with very little in them. Seems to have gone on a downward spirel but what a shame its a beautiful place. And for only £6 entry if your not a national trust member which is so reasonable. The grounds are lovely to walk around but the cafe has gone what a shame. There is a little van outside but for how long and when I'm not sure. It could be beautiful inside,, they have so much in storage get it out and maybe I will come back.
First visit here, and impressed. Staff in the hall were lovely and very informative. Hall is beautiful and kept lovely, amazing detail for a grand small hall. Grounds are big, but small enough to walk around in the day. Peg marked walks, oaths good, take care as path along river a bit overgrown. Fab day.Visited onWeekendWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNot sure
Small national trust property with woodland walks. Interesting history about the house and family who lived there. A good half day out. No cafe onsite but picnic places and the property is very close to Padiham with cafes and shops.Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNo
Fascinating Hall, thoroughly enjoyed the exhibitions about the women in this family and textiles/clothes displayed. Very informative and helpful guides in each room. Woodland area around the house beautiful.Visited onWeekendWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNo
Part of the National Trust so entry was free. The staff were friendly and knowledgeable. Their were parts of the house we were unable to see, and it's not great if you struggle with mobility but it was interesting. Coffee van on site but the cafe was closed.
Very interesting place.well informed staff giving lots of information about the property. The textile exhibition was inspirational, the highlight of the visit for me. Surrounding parkland gave my dog a good walk. Highly recommend.Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNo
Hubby and I found Gawthorpe Hall on the way back from an artists meeting today. We are National Trust members and love to explore the Trusts acquisitions in new areas. Gawthorpe is a lovely spot, very peaceful and lots of mature trees in the woodland. The house itself is very impressive with knowledgeable volunteers who are happy to impart some knowledge if you’re happy to listen. We understood there was no tearoom here but there was a coffee wagon where we were each able to get a delicious decaf latte and a Kitkat for a very reasonable £7:40. We really enjoyed Gawthorpe and it’s beautiful interiors together with the collection of superb embroidery, lace and textiles.
Great day out at this beautiful stately home and reasonable entrance price, large woodland for long walks, ideal for four legged friends, the coffee shop unfortunately is closed, but there was a lovely mobile coffee van on the grounds, next to the stately home, lovely staff and very knowledgeable on the history of the family who originally owned the stately home.
Really enjoyed having a look inside the Hall. It is in such good condition. The rooms are so light and the Long Gallery looked lovely with the sun shining in.
