This was a fantastic station for departure, with a large escalator leading down from the entrance! The design is modernized, platform I used is well-sized and cleanliness had been enforced.

Gateshead is a really good town centre, there are different food stores to choose from where you can get your shopping and there are some nice pubs to go and have a drink in. I like how there's a Vue cinema in Trinity Square and just opposite it is Tesco extra.

Staff are absolutely horrible. I travelled to newcastle from scotland and we visited tynemouth then headed to gateshead during getting off the train at gateshead i lost my ticket  in which i approached the older man who works here to solve the issue by paying for a new one i apologised to him for the trouble it caused and asked if he'd like to see my bank statements he told me it was okay and he would sort it for me whilst acting very nice to me he took my details and told me it was part of how he could find it on the system so i was happy to give them however he started to read out my family members names that live with me in Scotland on his hand held device. Why and how does he have access to this information on my family? I thought this was a total breach of personal data. he then ended up fining me £52 for a £2.80 ticket i was happy to buy again. This itself is atrocious however i would’ve been okay if it was left at that, a group of the staff crowded round me all in my face not allowing me to leave and said they were around me incase it got violent? I was never once rude to them or anything of the sorts whilst interacting with them so just totally unneeded. My partner who was with me shouted across the barrier as he was worried because I was visibly scared and intimidated by the group of staff around me. Hope the older man who works here is happy with himself treating a teenager like this! Thanks to the security guard at the top of the station who was the ONLY member of staff who done his job correctly and treated me with any form of decency. I would completely avoid this place at all cost. Really a let down as the other staff at other metro stations were nothing but friendly. Would love to launch a formal complaint.

I recently visited Metro Gateshead and was thoroughly impressed. The center was impeccably clean and well-maintained. The staff were attentive and ensured everything ran smoothly.
