Great little railway. Staff really friendly and we had a great time!Visited onPublic holidayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNo
An excellent volunteer run light railway. Keep in mind this railway is open only a handful of days a year. A good length track that has a fun little cross over at the middle junction. Plenty of free on site parking, from which you can watch 3 steam engines and a diesel running. Very well presented with an excellent array of signals to let you really see how a railway runs. Facilities include a model railway, small second hand bookshop, food, drinks and large covered eating area plenty of space for picnics. Toilets are clean and modern. This place really does have it all. My only disappointment was the lack of GLR branded badges or apparel. Oh, and there are plenty of spots of the trainspotters to get a unique photo. The ticket allows unlimited rides for the day. Great value for money.
The railway itself was very well presented, everything neat and tidy and very clean. The 2 gentleman in Pinesway Junction signal box were also very pleasant and had a good conversation with them about signal box experiences. Unfortunately that is the plus side to the railway which is why I gave three stars. Whilst queueing for our first ride the train was full so was asked to wait at the bottom of the footbridge, the lady in front was explaining to her young child that they had to wait. The man who looked more like a farmer than a railway member of staff in quite a rude and blunt tone said "well that would be handy, wouldn't it". After most of the staff seemed to be walking around aimlessly and looking as if they would rather be somewhere else. Lovely railway, poor staff, will I visit again, not for a very long time.
Brillant little railway. Great cafe and shop. Only open a few days a year so check the dates.Visited onPublic holidayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNo
Found this place by accident, it was nice afternoon and not too busyVisited onPublic holidayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNo
Stumbled across this place on bank holiday Monday and my daughter who’s 6 really enjoyed it, cute quaint trains running all day, also a cafe and shop. You pay once and can use the tickets all day, I did think the adult prices were a little steep, £9 - if you only popped in and went on one train, kids are £5 staff are friendly and dressed authentically would recommend
Perhaps not the easiest to find but well worth the effort. Friendly staff, a roomy cafe and fascinating ride. Not what you expect to find in a rural farmyard. Steam and diesel engines performing well on a narrow gauge line the follows part if the sadly missed S&D. Check their website for opening days/times before you go.
Our 4 year old loved it. Nice little family run railway with lovely views and wonderful steam trains- def worth the visit
Finally got 2 visit this hidden gem 4 the 1st time! Fab day out 4 train enthusiasts of all ages; the kids loved it. Nanna & Grandpa could easily access main shop/café via a level crossing. A model train club had their prized models on display - BONUS Café well priced. Would definitely go back again & again.
Lovely light railway tucked away nicely in the countryside. The train ride was perfect for my family - especially my 4 year loved it! A hidden gem for all ages!
