Friendly staff and good selection of stock. Let down by pushing for disc care/insurance on practically anything you buy, signing up to Game Reward Elite membership and below par trade in prices
Nice service and well presented, has a very hit and miss board game selection - sometimes it's awful think 30 different versions of monopoly sometimes it's fabulous- especially for people getting into the hobby. GAME must transition into this due to computer games generally being downloaded nowadays, If this review is read by upper management you need to stock Catan, Takenoko, Ticket To Ride, Azul, Carcassonne, Survive: Escape From Atlantis, Kingdomino etc. - games that get people into the hobby and people will 100% come back for more, and stop the pointless monopoly/scrabble editions, people have moved on from that. Also, please please sort the App out, it just does not work. For this store though its pretty great and I do recommend it, we always pop in everytime we are in town and it's better than The Entertainer and Toymaster by miles.
We went into game in Burton today and we were very happy with the service. We were served by a man called Dom who was very knowledgeable and helpful when selecting some headphones and games.
Purchased a second hand item from the store that turned out to be faulty so I tried to return it and was told the company returns policy will only allow them to replace the item or give a gift voucher to the value of the goods. I explained that I am entitled to receive a full cash refund under consumer law as I am returning a faulty item. The store assistant insisted she couldn't give anything other then a gift card and not wanting to cause a scene or drag anything out for what is was effectively a small amount of money I took the gift card, left and took my concerns to the customer services team whom confirmed the store assistant was wrong and I was indeed entitled to a cash refund for goods however as I accepted the gift card this was no longer an option something I expected staff should be better trained.
Went in with son and grandson and a real eye opening experience " but a nice experience " . Large selections of games and collectables. If you're struggling with a present for a young person this ain't a bad place to look
Prices still high on some second-hand games nobody ever heard of and they didn't have the PS4 VR2 kit, they only had bits like the camera and some of the controllers. Otherwise a nice, clean, organised shop... I found it easy to locate what i was looking for and more and there's no pressure to buy... but then again there were only 2 members of staff on duty, still no queue!
Called up three times to the store, asking to reserve a Charizard box as they are hard to get hold of, they told me the night before, and the morning of the drop that they have put my name in one and reserve it for me. Just for me to spend money on the train ticket and an hour of my time to go into store and say they haven’t reserved me one and that they don’t know what I’m talking about. Very disappointing.
How Game stays in business is beyond me. The prices are substantially higher than elsewhere, they don't always have a great selection and, because they don't reprice second hand games, you'll frequently find that they're pre-owned games are more expensive than new versions. I took one pre-owned game to the counter as it was £10 more expensive than the new version and asked them what they really wanted for it and they just couldn't get their heads round the process. No wonder they are struggling.
Clearly sign posted for social distancing, the store wasn't crowded. They have a good selection of games both electronic and physical. The employee behind the counter was very professional, friendly and quick.
