I believe GAIL'S bakery is a gem in London. The service at the counter/checkout is very quick they know how to deal when it gets really busy, the staff is good but I didn't appreciate that one of the girls came to clear and clean our table while our food was still on the tray. The selection is outstanding and everything looks and is scrumptious. We tasted the beef bagel, the chicken burger, the chicken bacon and chestnut samosa, the cinnamon roll, the blueberry and custard cake. The coffee is good but their star is the bakery. Just great! Can't wait to go back to London and eat there at least once a day!!
I've been to a few Gail's Bakery and this one in Wanstead did not disappoint. I popped in for a brunch on a weekday and was impressed with the overall experience. Although it was busy, the bakery had ample space in the main area as well as an additional room and upstairs. The fresh bakery smell was delightful, and it set the mood for a wonderful meal. I ordered the avocado sourdough with salmon, and I must say it was one of the best meals I have had in a while. The food felt well prepared, and the flavors were perfectly balanced. It was evident that they used high-quality ingredients in their dishes. The coffee was also a highlight of the meal. It was better than most high street coffees and tasted absolutely divine. The staff were attentive and always on hand to ensure we had everything we needed. Overall, my experience at Gail's Bakery was fantastic, and I would certainly recommend it to anyone looking for a great brunch spot in Wanstead. The quality of the food and coffee, the ambiance, and the service were all top-notch. I look forward to coming back to this bakery again soon
I am an usual client from this Gail’s , I like the coffee and bakery. However I DO NOT at all when THEY THINK WE ARE IDIOTS. We are paying expensive bakery and they use the old pain of chocolate to transform them in almond croissant or some kind of bakery with almond. This is NOT THE FIRST TIME. I am shocked how this good brand they are doing that, but still we are paying and buying again, so is all our responsibility.
Lovely cakes and savouries. I particularly enjoyed the Latte here. Seating is available. We went to sit upstairs but it was full of students studying at their laptops...it almost felt like a library as it was so quite so we went back downstairs again and found a seat there. Would come back again though.
I've been visiting Wanstead quite a few times now and here's what I noticed: - Amazing bread selection, but sells out quite fast! - They have milk alternatives: Soya and Oat 40p extra , but no syrups only Chai! Their amazing Dirty chai latte with soy milk is delicious! They even have decaf beans to make any decaf coffee. Coffee varies from 2.90 to 3.20 and have small or regular size. They accept reusable cups. - The staff were lovely and welcoming, had a great conversation with them. - Not so much vegan options, a few sweets/cakes and breakfast pots, avocado chickpea sandwich and salad, and Avo on Toast. - One gluten free chocolate cake, a flourless squash pie and small bread. - Upstairs seating area is usually quiet to do some work or even terrace. - They do have upstairs bathroom and baby changing facility in downstairs one.
Have given this branch a go a couple of times now. It's a bit hit and miss - there always seems to be something off. This time it was the 'Blueberry & Custard Brioche'. It tasted and smelt incredibly eggy/sulphatey, to the point of being inedible. Not sure if this is because of incorrect storage or some issue during the baking process but yeah, definitely not good. The other things I got were pretty nice - especially the delicious 'Tahini Bite'! The inconsistency is a shame as the prices aren't cheap!
Staff not the friendliest and always a impersonal experience, you feel rushed and like you are just a number. Would be nice to be greeted and showed more care and attention. Despite this the coffee is good and the cheese twists are exquisite. The salad boxes a little pricey but delicious.
Ordered via deliveroo, sent me the wrong items. Not one item delivered correctly, spoke on the phone to organise re delivery. Promised compensatory items, which were then forgotten. Terrible service at high prices. Avoid until they organise eyesight tests for employees.
Food was excellent, had breakfast roll loved it. The pecan banana cake was awesome. The only reason it didn’t get a 5 star is that the cup I got was dirty so I had to change it.
I really enjoyed my time at Gails this morning! I highly recommend the bacon and egg muffin! The muffin was soft and overall flavoursome. The salsa is absolute incredible and delicious, it accompanied the muffin really well! I additionally ordered the blueberry pancakes likewise worthy of the order. The atmosphere is enjoyable, this is a hidden gem of Wanstead!
