We had a lovely visit to Gabrielle's Ice Cream Parlour. The staff were incredibly friendly and happy to accommodate a special request when my partner asked if they could make a hole in the ice cream to add extra raspberry sauce. Nothing seemed too much trouble, and they even made sure we had plenty of napkins because they knew it would be a bit drippy!nnThe ice cream was delicious, the service was excellent, and the staff genuinely listened to what we wanted. We'd definitely recommend a visit and will happily return next time we're in Redcar.
I really love this place! Pros: The waffles and milkshakes are extremely sweet in the best possible way. I love the 50s retro style. I really enjoy the music. The food is AMAZING!!!!! Cons: the tables were a bit sticky and when I ordered the waffle the entire plate was covered in syrup so I couldn’t move it around without getting my fingers sticky : . Overall I really like this place and I will come back soon :D
Poor experience. Ordered and waited half an hour for our order despite them not being overly busy. After half an hour I went to chase my order, they had forgotten it. Asked for refund. Was told they could do it now for me. No thanks, just a refund. Was given cash even though I paid on card and got a “sorry about that.”nIn that situation, I think completing the order and issuing a refund is warranted. They obviously didn’t.nIt was fairly pricey and wasn’t the cleanest.
Good food etc but customer service is shocking. Staff always seem like they can't be bothered even with the smallest of requests. Furthermore, if your kids have additional needs this is not the place to go. The music is very loud and they refuse to turn it down when asked, even when I made it clear my daughter is autistic, is wearing ear plugs AND ear defenders, and it was still too much. This has happened on multiple occasions and apparently it's a management decision. It's fairly standard these days for places to be accepting and helpful to those with additional needs but apparently Gabrielle's couldn't care less.
I went back and forth on whether to rate 3 or 4 stars and eventually settled on a 3. The place is super cute and while they happily replaced an order they got wrong a combination of them getting that order wrong in the first place, a long wait time and how high the prices are knocked it down.nnI feel like a lot of these issues could be due to understaffing though, there seemed to only be 2 or 3 people working and they have to serve both the people sitting indoors and the outside counter.
