As close to an 'old fashioned' ironmongers and general store as you will probably find these days. B&Q it is NOT but with a friendly service, helpful advice and a number of 'just there when you need it' items for the home with light bulbs and padlocks, colanders and flower bulbs, paint and stuff to stick anything to anything - what more could you want? If they haven't got it you probably don't really need it. Its local and convenient and I have yet to be disappointed.

Possibly not unique but there certainly aren't many hardware shops like Denny's left. Fabulous range of goods, friendly, helpful staff and a time machine (backwards only) for a shop. It is still possible to buy one screw from Denny's should you so wish. Must-sees: Pegboard displays out the back, beautiful nail chest ( I want it), ancient balances and a fine selection of architectural ironmongery. And yet, despite all this old-fashioned charm, they are becoming a serious web presence... Visit - you won't be disappointed!

A great find! ... and one we will be returning to. Found the quality pan set we were looking for which was as cheap as buying from some anonymous internet website. Helpful staff that know their products or make the effort to find out and a store crammed full of useful kitchen and home wares. Well worth a visit and you will leave with more than you intended.
