This place is massive! One of the most impressive Abbeys we've been to, and we've been to a lot. Nice peaceful location, so much to see, really interesting little museum. Definitely stop in
5 stars even though it was raining quite heavily. This is a magical place. The lady at reception was fantastic providing a wonderful history of the place. The museum in the visitor centre was so intetesting. Despite the weather the visit was brilliant. It must be totally amazing in better weather
Beautiful remains of the Abbey with a lot left standing so you can get a real feel for what it would have been like. It's a large site too, biggest I've been to. There's a little cafe open further along the road & a museum shop which houses some of the remains & has lots of info & lots of beautiful things to buy from English Heritage range. Will definitely come again in summer.
Fantastic abbey. Lovely setting and also great exhibits and gift shop. Lovely place to lose yourself for a couple of hours. Journey by train is beautiful too.
This is a beautiful historic venue, lots of interesting buildings to explore what is left of it. Always makes me think who trod this ground over the centuries. Gift shop is interesting with berry wines for sale and craft gins along with other items for all of the family.
I visited in April. I was astonished at the immensity of the ruins and it was really interesting to wander around. I did not do the museum but have heard it is good. Has a lovely wee cafe next door.Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo wait

A real gem well worth the excursion to Barrow. Most informative and enthusiastic reception welcome, with scene setting displays before exploring the Abbey circa 2 hours. History and retained detail of the Abbey and it's links to the Isle of Man, Piel Island and castle are fascinating, Put Barrow on the map from 1123 AD.Visited onWeekendWait timeNo wait
British Heritage sites are amazing. Interesting architecture, go to the Furness Abbey, and come back to comment on the unique feature of the "kitchen".
Very impressive Abbey ruins. Looked after by English Heritage membership card or payment needed upon entry. Plenty of parking.Visited onWeekendWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNot sure
