The transformation of our bathroom was done very professionally. The management put together a smooth plan of action The plumbers, electricians and fitter involved worked well together and were always on time. We were very pleased with the result and employed them to install a dishwasher in the kitchen where previously there wasn't one.
We needed a Wet Room installed for my Mother in Law and at the same time decided to update our kitchen. After searching and taking recommendations from friends we decided to use Frome Valley Kitchens in Dorchester. From start to finish it has been a joy to use them. Their fitters always turned up when they said they would turn up and when they finished each evening they would tidy and hoover up after themselves. My wife and I would highly recommend Frome Valley Kitchens if you are looking for a company that listens and finishes work to a high standard.
In January we moved to Dorchester to live closer to elderly parents. We had a need for a new kitchen in our new extension. My father recommended Frome Valley Kitchens as they had used them for their kitchen. We visited their showroom and went through the whole process of various designs until we finally agreed on one suitable solution that met with our requirements and budget. Frome Valley Kitchens made a schedule for all the works and they kept to it. We now have a fabulous kitchen and have enjoyed many dinner parties where we have wowed our guests. Many thanks to all at Frome Valley Kitchens who made this happen and I trust you all enjoyed the chocolates I dropped off??
The most stressful experience in home improvement we have ever had! We had our family bathroom replaced by FVK at end of January, there are still unresolved issues now in May! A relatively simple out with the old, in with new took weeks longer than anticipated. Their employed trades simply didn’t turn up or spent what appeared to be an hour a day in our home. In addition to this, they were very insistent on decoratingat an added fee, we also asked for a carpenter to fit a new oak door which we supplied at design stage to be told yes no problem. Well, the decorator and carpenter turned out to be the plumbers mate, a handy man who ruined the door and made a mess of the painting. FVK did send trades eventually to put it right but it was a slapdash effort and we were still left with paint on tiles, lights & top of shower head. What was supposed to be a painless experience turned out to be a disaster and we are left feeling less than happy and wishing we never started! We did also have quotes for our kitchen and bedroom at the same time, mercifully we decided to see how the bathroom went first. We will not be going back! Please avoid this shambolic organisation at all costs, they don’t communicate, follow up on anything and think they can get away with poor quality trades, once they have your money! We are now left with a defective shower control and the shower not working properly and having to pay someone else to put it right as FVK have not come back to us. Update 30/5/19-After seeing this review and discovering our emails, FVK came out and replaced the damaged glass shelf and resolved the issue with the shower. However, our experience and feelings still stand. We will not be engaging this company in any further works on our home.
Frome Valley Kitchens have refitted two bathrooms for me, as well as installing a range of bedroom cupboards and updating two kitchens. In every case I have been impressed by their helpfulness and attention to detail in planning and the reliability and professionalism of the installers.
What an Awful Business. If you are thinking of having a new bathroom or kitchen installed, use these guys at your peril. We would not recommend Frome Valley Kitchens to anyone and here’s the reasons why; 1 Communication between all is appalling. A They make promises to call you but don’t. B Contracted Trades complained that they were told little or nothing about the job they were employed to do. C They tell you, something is going to be done and it’s not or a trade will be on site but they don’t turn up until you chase them. We were expecting an electrician on one particular morning, when no one arrived we called FVK several times. Eventually an electrician arrived at 4.30pm & bodged the job he was supposed to do causing a fuse to blow on the main circuit board. DWhen we telephoned to complain as things were going dreadfully wrong, the person We spoke to blamed others and refused to take ownership of the problem. Edited at the request of the MD. 10/5/19* 2 Trades employed, were not diligent about their work and showed little or no respect for the customer or the products they were fitting. AWe were having a new bathroom fitted. Once the old bathroom was removed and the walls plastered, new flooring was put down but no attempt was made to cover or protect it from damage whilst works to install the ceramic ware etc. was undertaken. As a result the new flooring was damaged. We are waiting to find out what they are going to do about this. BWhen the fitter was laying tiles in the new shower area, he used a cheap method of fixing the tiles to the walls using a cost cutting tecnique called, Dotting & Dabbing. it’s where a blob of tile adhesive is blobbed on the back of the tile in each corner and one in the middle. This is not a satisfactory way of laying tiles as the tiles are not bedded in properly and can crack easily. Low and behold! When he fitted the shower cubicle three tiles got cracked. Two, he said later he knew about but didn’t tell us, hoping we would not notice. FVK did agree to replace them but it’s not the point! 3 Do not keep to the schedule and ignored any pleas to be expedient and get the job finished in a timely manner because we had guests coming to stay at the beginning of April. We were told that they would definitely be finished by then. We asked them how long till the job would be finished and they told us, 2/3 weeks. They have gone over by three weeks. There have been days when no-one was on site and they never turn up when they do before 10am if you are lucky. Don’t expect anyone on site on a Friday, it would appear they don’t work Fridays! We saved for four years to have a new bathroom installed and were looking forward & excited at having the old one replaced. These guys have managed to kill any excitement or pleasure we might have had and sadly they still have not finished! The only person who tried to put things right was the other Owner/MD. She was the only one who seemed to care and genuinely tried to put things right but sadly everyone else let her down. ONE FINAL WARNING: it’s their company policy that payment in full is made BEFORE they start work! Walk away! When things go wrong and I guarantee they will. You have little or no leverage to get them to put things right!! *10/5/19 . Retraction Statement. On 2/5/19 The MD Came to see us as they had seen our review above. He imparted that having sort legal advice he was informed by his Solicitor that my comment that we’d spoken to him when we telephoned to complain was defamatory. Apparently it wasn’t he we spoke to but another member of staff. He also offered a refund of £500. Which we refused as we can not “be paid off” and no amount of money could ever compensate us for the distress and upset caused by Frome Valley Kitchens. Today we finally close the door this saga. The flooring damaged by their fitter was replaced and 1other misdeed put right. Our review above is a truthful explanation of what happened to us and the rest of this review remains.
