Waited 3.5 hours with my daughter in severe pain and she was sick because of the pain, twice, only to have been given a brief consultation with no proper investigation or examination, then sent home with very low dose pain killers. After several phone calls to emergency services and a very uncomfortable night was told to go to the unit again, and was told the ambulance service were going to call ahead. When we arrived, no phone call had been made and we were made to wait for another hour and a half to be seen by the most rudest uncomapassionate nurse I have ever had the misfortune to meet. She lacked any social skills, did not introduce herself, said very abruptly, 'what symptoms have changed since yesterday', with a very obvious attitude, never even gave eye contact and by her attitude...more or less said we can't do nothing more, you should , see a doctor.....as if we haven't tried. I am very surprised that a nurse who works in this position is unable to access a Dr's opion or request a prescription. Very, very poor. If these people do not want to be in these jobs....please leave. 29/03/24. I had surgery this week at the RUH and cannot praise them enough....wonderful care and efficient. Frome, definitely needs a severe overhaul. Hope my daughter is feeling better over night after a reluctant prescription finally being given, otherwise may need to make a formal complaint.
The nurse Tammy Hurlock/Herlock was an absolute nightmare and caused me pain to the point of tears doing an unnecessary rebound test for appendicitis, and disregarded me when I said that I was experiencing ovarian pain without bowel symptoms. I understand ruling out red flags but the test was then repeated without reason, when I outlined from the start I was not worrisome about having a bowel issue. My pain is now worsened past the help of painkillers and I have pain in places that were completely fine before. She spoke to me in a horrible, dismissive, and condescending tone and cut me off mid sentence just because she didn't want to hear my objections. When I repeated that it was not a bowel issue and that I didn't want buscopan, she insisted that she can't do anything for something in that area and can't do any scans or bloods. I feel as if I was gaslit into thinking it was a bowel issue simply because she did not have the resources to investigate any reproductive issues, even though at reception I mentioned that I have reproductive area pain. She held no regard for the pain she was causing me and did not treat me like anything but a protocol list, and made me very anxious. Her whole demeanor was disgusting and even disturbed my partner who was in the room with me. I am completely put off attending urgent care here again, and will be filing a formal complaint.
I attended the minor injuries unit this morning: 2/2/2024, having been referred there by a GP at the medical centre whoo couldn't even be bothered to phone me someone else did it!. A ruptured bicep obviously wasn't worth their time and attention.nHowever, despite a lengthy wait at the minor injuries unit at the community hospital, the nurse that attended to me was courteous, patient, thorough, kind and understanding. There was no indication of wanting to rush the consultation and I felt that my injury was being taken seriously. So, maximum stars for the lady in question.nOn returning home, though, when I attempted to phone the number I had been given to make an appointment with a physiotherapist, the answering message stated that the service was unavailable until next week due to staff shortages.nThe NHS that came into being when I was a lad and was a beacon of hope for those unable to afford doctor's consultations and medicines is, I'm sad to say, in tatters.nExcept, that is, for the young lady that was so kind and understanding towards me at the community hospital. I have forgotten the name on the badge she wore, but she deserves praise for her professionalism.
My late father was placed here from Yeovil hospital with dementia. Although the staff were good, he sadly passed away here less than 4 weeks here.nWe got a call to arrange the collection of his body as there is no morgue here, they could not hold his body and his room was needed. We were only just been told he passed away and we had to sort this out...that's terrible to even have to action this after we only just been told he passed away.nThen to top it off, when we had to collect paperwork for my father and his belongings, they did not take us into a room or anything, just handed the documents and a plastic bag and said bye at the desk in his ward. Where is the care and after thought in this.nI hope and pray your loved ones don't go in here and pass away.
They are currently looking after my 99 year grandpa - what a service! Private room, one on one care, lots of love & laughter - staff are wonderful. Well done guys. Great job.
