This place has been on my list for a while. Unfortunately they close in the afternoon so no good for a late lunch hence never making it. Thankfully I was in Deal super early last weekend and managed to secure a table. Service was a bit slow with our water request being requested three times. Food nowhere near as good as anticipated and was average at best. My table ordered the set lunch. Whilst waiting we asked if we could have bread, three tiny slices fir £3. A few halved cherry tomatoes with pesto for starter and the main steak was VERY chewy and not rested. Overpriced IMHO for the quality! Drinks were one price on menu and charged as 20% extra on bill; plus, a single glass of average wine £12!!! £60++pp for lunch with 2 drinks Seems a lot of venues have increased their prices significantly recently as I understand they have to to survive , however, it's my belief only those with excellent customer service and amazing quality produce will ride out this storm. Sadly I won't be rushing back.
Cute cosy vibes, great food & wine, and excellent service. Our waitress was very attentive and gave us good suggestions of what to order and how much. We went for the special on the day sea bream with nduja and sprouting broccoli and it was divine. Anchovy main was also really good. I would definitely go back if we find ourselves in Deal again!
Great service and beautiful food. The waiter was excellent with recommendations and knowledge of the menu. Gutted there wasn't a Fillet Steak but the sirloin was almost as good.
We enjoyed wonderful food and fantastic service in this cute little bistro in Deal. I can highly recommend the Gurnard and the fantastic Tiramisu Ice cream dessert. Thank you, we will be back!
I couldn't possibly be anymore enthusiastic about Frog and Scot if I tried. I love it. The small plate menu format really works. The dishes are prepared excellently and look and taste great. The drinks list is interesting with some great cocktails and some affordable interesting wines on tap. The new decor is elegant, modern and cool, but what really pulls it altogether is the passion and pride from the team on the floor, from Benoit the owner to each and everyone else I've met! Such a great vibe. I can't wait to go back.
I loved this place. Not too crowded and not too noisy so excellent for a lunch and a chat with friends. The food is exquisite.
Giving 2 stars and I don’t want to be overly harsh because we didn’t even get the chance to try the food! However, we have never been turned away from an empty restaurant at 5:00pm because, shock horror, we have children in a holiday town! I’d understand this policy if it was later at night perhaps but pretty shocked to be turned away from a literally empty restaurant early evening due to other people’s children behaving badly at a previous date! My advice would be to address poorly behaved children with the parents at the time! Kid-friendliness: They do not allow children to eat here!
Really enjoyed the atmosphere and the food. We will be back ;- Edit Sept/2021, I went back, twice recently, but I thing they overcharge: 2 x 3 courses + 1 bottle of wine one of the cheapest = £160. This is too much.
Fantastic food, great service, unpretentious but elegant atmosphere. A truly lovely evening out here this evening. Would definitely like to come again.
We were recommended this restaurant whilst spending a few days in Kent. Honestly I went in with every intention of having a great night, enjoying my meal and leaving a healthy tip. The silly things; tables are wobbly, the decor is dirty and the plants are plastic. The more serious stuff; We were made to feel genuinely unwelcome, like an after thought. We were asked by one staff member if we wanted desert which we then ordered. Within 30 seconds the manager asked if he could move us to a 'comfy area' so he could use the table. We were then left for 30 minutes for one slice of chocolate cake. I was intending to leave a decent tip regardless, because despite the silly stuff, the fish was actually good. Paid and as we're leaving, a woman runs over and says they don't accept cash...? Despite the fact you can't turn down legal tender, it was a bit bizarre that this wasn't mentioned at any point before we tried to leave. Paid by card, kept the tip because I noticed 10% is already added! never a good sign I was willing to chalk this up as me being grumpy but the next night we tried another restaurant that was within walking distance of these guys and it was incredible service with food 10x the quality of the Frog and Scot so frankly I felt justified in writing this. Oh and a final note, overpriced. A 200ml bottle of coca-cola was £4. I didn't know they even did a 200ml bottle.
