Lovely hospital and very clean My Dad is on ward 2 I cannot stress enough how grateful we are as a family for the care he has received to date. Empathy , care understanding sympathetic to his vascular dementia needs. Staff and doctors have been amazing wish I could name them all but it’s Lisa who holds the medal all so lovely and have helped to ease our stress it’s been very emotional thank you to each and everyone of you always forever grateful Isabel and Lynn
Shocking no doctors on emergency ward, only 1 nursing assistant on nights doing the whole ward by herself. Qualified were 2 with 1 doctor. Waited hours and by midnight I was flagging. Normally in bed with medication at 7pm. Discharged myself. Could hardly walk out hospital my arthritis had flared. I'm a retired qualified nurse myself and know the ropes. I would hate to go back to work now .
Even though it's an extremely busy hospital during visiting times, the stuff, tries it's best to go ahead against the clock . The only reason I give 4 Star is that the distance is huge and wether you are the patient or the assistant, you leave from there quite tired. Over all excellent at least in the oncology department!
Worse hospital experience we ever had, it spouse to be the best hospital in Europe or England a think. Our experience in cancer inpatient has been extremely bad for my mother who doesn't speak English, can't believe how the nursing and senior staff neglect they patient when they realise the patient can't stick up for they self. I have heard and seen people complaining how bad they have been treating people. A hate saying anything bad about NHS because you do get some staff who are really caring but they are very limited these days, you have to be blessed if you get them caring for you in a ward. I can honestly say Rvi is much better hospital and have an excellent team of caring staff. A think freeman can learn from Rvi
Have visited this hospital twice and each time it has involved hours of waiting due to inefficient staff. The first was being sent from the correct waiting area on floor 2 in the Northern Cancer Care department. The receptionist when we returned to the correct depth said simply take a seat. The patient an 82 yr oldwho less than 4 weeks earlier had 10 hours of surgery was exhausted an apology would have gone a long way. After her consultation, she was asked to wait for blood tests. After waiting 45 minutes I heard a nurse say has no-one being doing bloods. Little wonder the waiting area was packed. Then today visit to the pharmacy. We were told there'd be an hours wait. Had this been an area that was organised and working efficiently as possible then so be ir. For a start they have 3 queues in a small pharmacy. Several people were confused by this, and stood in the 'wrong' queue. At one point an assistant came outto ask why people were there and to putthem in the correct queue. I mean come on have 1 queue, take prescriptions, allocate numbers and hand outmedication. I would estimate that in the hour plus I was there cumulatively nursing staff wasted couple of hours waiting. Some had already been there this morning and had had to call back a second time. But the absolute joke of it all, and a fact most of us waiting were disgruntled about was the shambolic way prescriptions were dispensed. When allocated a number, we were all told our number would appear on a screen. The screen remained blank at all times. There was a screen in the pharmacy so why the pharmacy staff were unaware is a mystery. So wouldn't you think they would have gone old school and shouted names out. No instead we all had to join the queue again and ask if our prescription was filled. At times rather than serve customers one of the staff decided to fill shelves, shelves that were practically full, in fact some then were over filled. I have great sympathy for those working for the NHS, understaffed and underpaid. It is my hope that we will not need to visit again as we have opted for a different hospital for chemo
Very good hospital been treat like a Queen thanks for all the staffs ,Doctors, healthcares, cleaners good people .God bless all of them I m a minority black but I feel very good in the hospital
I had the misfortune of meeting one of your workers at a party some time ago. She asked me in a patronising way if I had autism or Aspergers. I told her no and asked her why, she refused to say and just sniggered and giggled like an immature school girl. One of your slogans is: “compassion. We ensure that compassion is central to the care we provide and respond with humanity and kindness to each person’s pain, distress, anxiety or need” doesn’t seem this representative cares at all about your values
You cannot fault the customer experience here. Easy and well priced parking, nice and easy to get around and staff going out of there way to assist. I was stood looking aimlessly at the map board and 2 staff members asked at the same time if I needed help. Love that there is a veg stall outside of the hospital main entrance.
My husband and i travelled here because the doctors he sees are based here from middlesbrough its sbsoloutly ridiculous one person or one surgeon can only perform the op my partner requieres but its been put off all they seem to do in james cook is put a bag on my husband when hes having problems waiting for the surgeon to see him before long i can see my husband either lose his rag or commit suicide hes a very patient man but the nhs is a diabolical place now if we were able to go private and ask for a quick appointment i bet our hand would be snapped off and he would be seen 2 yrs 2 yrs hes needed his treatment and they are still dragging their feet i bet majority of the people in these comments are all the ones who went private so you payed for your comment and stood out well done you
I want to say a massive thank you to Kate in admissions who really went above & beyond in helping both myself & my husband prior to his admission to the Freeman which is happening on Sunday 10th March.Kate was reassuring, kind & so so helpful in securing me accommodation really nearby the hospital after I really struggled to do so not knowing the area at all. What a credit to the Freeman & hopefully we will be able to thank her personally next week.
