We popped here after visiting the needles. Free parking. Dog friendly and clean toilets. Unfortunately everything was closed when we arrived but imagine it would be interesting when all open as a variety of places such as a cafe, reptile house and planetarium. We walked along the shingle and rocky beach. Didn't find any fossils - maybe one day! There is also a forest path. Views on top of the fort are really good back to the main land. There were lots of people fishing from here as well.
Fantastic free park with fantastic views. Lots of interesting things to do and we paid to watch a planetarium show. They have several different shows and prices are very cheap. Lots of artefacts there and displays also including about Robert Hooke, the talented early scientist who was born nearby. Lots for children to do apart from exploring the fort, but don't miss the planetarium.
We followed a circular trail out from Fort Victoria to Fort Albert. Couldn’t get to Fort Albert as it seemed to be in private property. However, coastal forest walk was lovely, dog was off-lead, and we walked about 2 miles total. Fort Victoria has free parking, a nice dog-friendly cafe, and a few other things for kids. Views across to mainland Lymington on a clear day, it’s only 3/4 mile away so maybe you can try swimming it! Restrooms: Free facilities Dog-friendliness: Yes, off-lead while walking, on-lead around the facilities obviously. There’s a poo bin or two Picnic area: Outdoor and indoor seating with sea views
Lovely views and walks. Great little Reptilian House, Gift Shop and Café. It was very windy when we visited, but that made things more exciting seeing the big waves and hearing the bell tolling on the buoy. Lots of people fishing today too. Watching them casting their lines was really fascinating, well for me it was! Also tree swings in the woods kept the girls entertained for ages. Restrooms: Well kept toilet facilities. Dog-friendliness: Brilliant place to take your dog as the walks in the woods give them good exercise and they are also allowed in some of the shops. Picnic area: Wooden tables and tresses set up in the corner and I'm pretty sure I saw a barbecue there as well.
Lovely place to take a stroll around. Venue is open 24/7 and is free of charge as it’s run by the Isle of Wight council . Large car park which is free to park at. Small number of shops selling various items, however most closed when we attended. There is a cafe on site which seemed reasonably priced. There is a small shingle/stone beach which is lovely for a short stroll along. Worth while bringing a picnic with you to have on the grass over looking The Solent and Hurst. Castle. Walk along the top of the old fort tells you about the history of the fort. Great place to spend a few hours. Suitable for dog and those with limited mobility.
Come here with pre-pack food and picnic in mind. You could walk at sea costal while enjoying sea and it’s sounds hitting rocks and sands. There is costal walk you could do, path is uneven with muddy ground, make sure to wear correct type trainer. You will enjoy best view of sea through the costal walk. You could easily spend a day here if it’s sunshine so prepare to pack your food with plenty of drinks and include juices as well. Swimming is restricted here. ‍ Toilets available in coffee shop area Free Car Parking Dog-friendliness: I have seen plenty of dogs. So I would say this place allows dogs. Picnic area: I would suggest to pack your picnic bag with plenty of fruit salad and fruits, plenty of water, juices, sandwiches and crisp. Of course you could take whatever you like. You could sit right front of sea and enjoy at sea costal or you could walk into huge park and enjoy the picnic in the forest in the park. You will again get the best view from some part of park.
Great place. Plenty to see and do. No bathing allowed but splendid sea views. Lots of walks available along the coastal path. Some impressive facilities - the best of which is the Immaginarium. Encouraging staff and well stocked with artistic supplies, it's ideal for children who want to indulge their artistically creative inclinations.
Nice views good location straight off the ferry couple of miles to right of landing Playground: Open space Restrooms: Clean n tidy Dog-friendliness: Open grassland and woodland walk .beach nearby Picnic area: Tables and bbq area
Fort Victoria is one of the best. Sea, countryside, great cafe and coastal walks. Free parking and easy access to Yarmouth. Immerse yourself in history. Don't forget to visit nearby Golden Hill Fort too! Ensure you grab a coffee and sausage roll from Cafe Verdi
Stunning views of the Solent, great for a picnic or bit to eat at the cafe. You can wonder ontop of the Fort to enjoy at 360° view. You can enjoy costal walks or if you prefer to sit on a bench and watch the world go by
