Paid in advance for a spa and afternoon tea. Was assured if any member couldn't make it we could cancel and have a refund. We had to cancel one place and did this a few days after making full payment. Rang up and stated no problem we will get a refund sorted. Weeks gone by since the spa treatment but still no refund of the cancelled place for £99 Absolutely no response from 3 emails and phone calls don't get answered. Disgusting customer care, and will be taking further action in order to receive the refund. Do not book anything here it is terrible.
Booked spa day and afternoon tea for 2 daughters and myself. After being left waiting in the reception area for a while we were given forms to fill in which we could have done whilst sitting twiddling out thumbs. Once sorted we where taken into the message room, this was the best bit and we really enjoyed this part. The girls doing it where lovely and professional at all times. We then entered the pool area. There was an aerobics class on for 30 mins so wasn't able to have a good swim. We sat in the hot tub which was off for 15 mins with no bubbles. The button is just there for show and actually comes out of the floor. There was broken tiles on the hot tub and where we was sitting we could see lots of insects crawling over an area by the pool. We got dressed after this and went for the afternoon tea. This was nice. Nice small mixed sandwiches and small assorted cakes complete with as many coffees/tea as you wanted. I was not impressed and would not recommend as this place needs updating, there are better places for the price.
Went for a special weekend there, but what should be a relaxing time was very distressed. When we arrived around 4pm to our terrace double room, people from a wedding party were using our space, very crowded and noisy and we couldn't use our terrace. To make things worse, in the middle of the night the fire alarm went on and I almost had a heart attack. The £36 steak very hard. The spa area very dirty and smelly and no bubble in the hot tub . Also the room was supposed to be a bath but there was just a shower. The place is beautiful but I didn't have a good experience and just wasted money £300 and time... very disappointing.
Myself and my husband stayed here at the weekend as a birthday treat. I had planned a surprise meal in the evening with family for my husband, and the staff were very accommodating in the run up to it , dealing with my email enquiries- they kept the surprise up when we checked in too and the young lady on the reception desk was very welcoming. Our whole stay was perfect. The room was beautiful- everything was clean and lots of attention to detail with even a bottle of Prosecco in the fridge cooling. The bed was so comfortable too. Our evening meal was lovely. The food was cooked to perfection and the waiting on staff were really friendly and eager to please. There was a particular lady who met us to show us to our table and a few younger members of staff who really stood out from the rest for their hospitality. We used the swimming pool and spa area twice while we were there and found it lovely and clean and very relaxing. I would definitely stay here again and would recommend it to friends. Thanks for a lovely stay and for making my husbands birthday special.
This hotel has stunning, picturesque views of the golf course and is beautifully designed. But what brings this down are the rooms and service. Rooms don't have working A/C, and are missing simple things such as a bath plug. Service is poor too. When questioned why the A/C is not working, they said the A/C has been turned off. Service in the area is also very poor so you won't get phone calls or data and have to rely on hotel WiFi. Not worth the price they charge for room
We went for a spa day the facilities wasn’t fully operational and the spa treatment the flannels that were used smelt damp and dirty. We then went to the bar to be waiting a long time to be served once eventually we was we went to the outside seating area to be greeted with piles of dirty glasses half eaten food plates etc … also a burnt out area with ash blowing all over us after paying £310 for our stay we was extremely disappointed and wish we hadn’t of bothered : I gave the young lady feedback on the desk and she asked me if I wanted to speak to a manager but I was in a rush to get to my sons match. I have since been given a 20% of the spa … like I stated I wouldn’t return, neither would I recommend.
Spa Day didn’t stay in hotel What a disappointment. Although the staff were all really lovely, the facial/treatments we had were nice, the very small spa room called ‘thermal heaven’ is just a steam room and a sauna and a shower then a few beds facing a window. The pool area is dirty, it smelt so so bad like wet dog, one of the rooms in the pool area wasn’t working and had all stuff stored in there.. no sign to say it wasn’t working… the other 2 rooms are I think sauna and aromatherapy but I didn’t use them as the whole area is just a complete disappointment. The smell was shocking, we there was 6 of us got in the small jacuzzi, it was luke warm, there is all tiles missing from all around, the guttering but all around for the over flow of water is all broken and uneven so we didn’t last long in there, mainly due to the smell. The changing rooms are in desperate need of a good sorting out, half of the lockers don’t work, my friend accidentally went to the locker that was at the side of hers thinking it was hers and put the PIN code in you chose a 4 digit pin and that’s the lock she put her pin in the one next to hers and it opened it to reveal someone else’s personal belongings. The walk way between the changing rooms/bathroom/shower room is flooded, so the flimsy slippers they provide as you walk through are no good, there was a lady ‘cleaning’ at one point with a mop, mopping up the flooded water and it smelt worse after she used the dirty mop. It’s also extremely warm in there. There are just 2 hairdryers there was probably 12 people in there when we were changing to go for afternoon tea and only 1 hairdryer works. The steam room stopped working they did get it sorted when we told them but is wasn’t working for about 30 mins. There is a quiet/relaxing room off the reception area reception area is lovely and that’s a lovely room, looks newer, but there is only 5 beds in there and there was 6 of us. Drinks if you want one are £2 for a hot drink that you serve yourself out of a vending machine in a paper cup. The treatment room was lovely, but, we were all out in double rooms which we did not request luckily is wasn’t a problem but some people could be uncomfortable. Over all it’s a very dated place, the ceiling in the ‘Thermal Heaven’ is hanging down in one part. It needs updating but more than that cleaning with actual products and not dirty mops. It stinks. Would not recommend and would not return.
We visited for my sons 16th, we stayed in the loft rooms and they where amazing ! Highly recommend, my son and husband played a round of golf on the 9hole golf course and really enjoyed it ! Myself and daughter used the pool area. I wanted to leave a special mention to a member of staff I thought was so helpful and kind , all staff where , however the lady and I'm sorry I didn't get her name she was small lady with short hair and served us on the Tuesday afternoon and helped my daughter and I carry food and drinks outside to our table in the sun , I'm deaf and celiac , at breakfast the next morning I feel she went above and beyond to help me , and make sure I had a gluten free option and we didn't know breakfast finished at 10 , we only got down at 9:50 but the lady said it was fine ! So nice ! Thank you so much Formby golf and spa hotel !! Rooms: The loft rooms are lovely , beds really comfy , so clean and tidy as well , TVs in bathroom
We went for a ‘luxury’ spa day. The spa is a glorified leisure centre, real dump. A lot of things not working and they ran a water aerobics class during the day. We asked for a refund, was told we would get one by the spa manager Daniel Core. I have followed up with emails for 5 weeks, most of which he has not responded to. I have yet to get my refund, luckily I paid on a credit card so will be able to get it back through them.
