It was a lovely restaurant, and the staff were nice. I had enjoyed the lamb and the potatoes however, the cauliflower cheese was not very tasty. As I felt like most of the veggies could have been cooked a little more as I prefer mine on the softer side. I was not a fan of the drink that I had either. I was also a little disappointed that we didn’t have little pots of gravy to add more to the dish as it had been nice.
Beautiful birthday brunch with my daughter and friends. It was our first time and it did not fail to deliver!! We ordered from the a la carte menu as it made it cheaper for us non-drinkers. It is on the more expensive side, but, in my opinion, worth it!! Service was good, and our server was lovely, but the recommendation for the brunch meal was slightly off, but that was to do with her preference and those who like a much smaller meal, I think. It's wheelchair, pushchair and baby friendly which is a massive plus. The WC is a mixed one and is partitioned off by a heavy screen. The decor just blew me away as we stepped into the Firefly and at the back of the restaurant there is a big space for large parties and a huge wall of screens which had scenery videos playing. Great music played in the background which added to the ambience. I definitely would have a dinner/party/brunch or breakfast here. We will be going again. Thank you for the wonderful experience Parking: Free street parking bays outside of Tesco Express after 12.30 on Saturday I also assume that goes for Sunday. Before 12.30 you must buy a ticket from the machine on the pavement. I also think that there is a paid parking lot which is quite close. Dietary restrictions: I can't remember if the menu actually indicated what was Gluten Free, Vegetarian, Lactose Intolerance, Nut allergies or Vegan. But we did ask but the server didn't have expert knowledge on what was what on the menu.
Visited for Mother’s Day lunch which was a set menu. Starters took over an hour to arrive, mains took a further hour. We asked for extra gravy which arrived after 2 out of 4 of us had finished, with no apology for the delay and in fact the waitress removed their plates while we continued eating. Fairly basic level hospitality standards just not met, & very odd for a set menu Sunday roast to take 2 full hours to be sent out. Our waitress was very friendly and the atmosphere was great but for dining this was a very poor experience especially for the price.
We went for the Sunday Roast, the lamb was stunning and tender, the whole meal was beautifully presented, the sticky toffee pudding was delicious. Reasonably priced for the quality of food. The atmosphere and decor is fantastic, the only down side was the loud music, but if you want a more casual dining experience with good drinks and food you should check it out. The server was on point as well.
We really enjoyed the food from here, it was delicious! Especially the Korean fried chicken and uramaki - worth the price. I’m not too sure about all the one star reviews below because they definitely don’t reflect our experience. The waitress was very nice, but she made a mistake with our final bill but sorted it out in the end.
To be honest the only reason why I decided to try here was due to the January 50% offer which didn't cater for Saturdays as I later discovered but that was still fine. Walking in we were greeted fairly promptly and led to the table to where my friend sat waiting. It honestly felt more like a night club than restaurant due to ghastly music and clientele. It was chav central mostly dressed in strip club gear constantly blocking the toilets with their diy photoshoots. I tried to focus on the menu and what my friend was saying but alas the "music" was turned up even louder. The menu offered some great sounding Japanese dishes such as various sushi plates and fishy mains. But they were not the cheapest. Craftily there was a glass water bottle at the table already present which my friend had a small glass of that instantly whacked £5 on to the bill we were prompted for nibbles but these were the near the same price as a starter so no.. all the cocktails were £10 , mostly made well but they were a shot glass full. I shared a red velvet uramaki with my friend 10 pieces for £13? This was super tasty and probably the best value dish. The mains I gambled the £45 wagyu beef steak, my boyfriend a salmon dish and my friend the black cod. We got a "rice for the table" aka a cup and everything to be fair tasted very nice but you didn't get a lot portion wise for your money. Oh and half way through mine the same amazing waitress clocked that I hadn't had my fries so these were delivered promptly. My friend finished with a sorbet dessert and I a panacotta. The bill came to £200 for x2 drinks each, x3 mains, 1 starter and 2 desserts..ouch. Overall if the portions had been greater, the noise turned off I would have enjoyed it more because the waitress/ service was incredible and food tasted great.. But yes unfortunately the atmosphere killed it for me and the price ;p
If you’re keen on celeb-spotting, this is the place to go. Known as @foodwellmcr during the day and @fireflymcr by night, our first thoughts were ‘wow this is stunning inside’. We went during Foodwell times and had the option to order brunch or lunch. We ordered some popular options and got ‘The Lady in Red’ £9, the Mango Achaar Pork Ribs £10, Chunky Guacamole w. Blue corn chips £7, Tempura Nobashi Prawns £12 & of course cocktails. The sushi was delicious, the pork was great too, it was quite sweet and fell off the bone when barely touched. We weren’t as much a fan of the tempura prawns, they were really oily and salty. The guacamole was lovely and fresh but we did find that there was barely any blue corn chips. Initially when we entered, the hostess wasn’t overly welcoming, instead she was a bit abrupt she showed us our table by putting the menu’s down and walking off without saying a word but we put this down to them being busy from a function. However, this was quickly fixed by the excellent service from our waiter, Oliver. He was incredibly friendly and happily gave us recommendations when we asked. He also overheard us say to each other that we wanted more corn chips for the guacamole and he immediately went and got us some more. We couldn’t have asked for better service at our table. Whilst we were eating lunch, there was a large group of some well-known TV faces having a birthday function. We won’t say more but Foodwell definitely seems like a go-to place. With that in mind, the prices were slightly high we only ordered small plates so be prepared if you’re ordering lots of dishes and multiple cocktails. Been here a few times with my mum and my partner. Food is fab and a varied menu - the sushi I have had was fresh and of high quality! This place is by far one of the best places I have been in regards to dealing with allergies - the staff were super thorough and took it super seriously which put my mind at ease as one of my party had a severe allergy
We stayed in a hotel Friday night and the original plan was to come here for lunch on Saturday after we checked out. However on the Friday we were walking past and decided to nip in for a cocktail. First impressions were confusion... why was it absolutely dead at about 6:15pm on a Friday evening. I don't know the area so maybe this is the norm... but other places nearby were much busier. Next impression was the decor... beautiful and such attention to detail, for example the table decoration. The venue smells lovely, I'm not sure how they do it! Interesting drinks menu, I had a watermelon fizz which was lush. So why only three stars?! The staff / service. Despite being pretty much the only people in there staff were totally indifferent to our presence. The doorman was engrossed in his phone and looked confused that we'd walked past him without him noticing. The hosts or whoever were stood near the door barely acknowledged us. The icing on the top was the barman who served us. He had like a top half pony. I tried to start a conversation about the cocktail menu and he just looked at me like I was a piece of rubbish. He was surly / grunty and needs to learn how to crack a smile. Zero warmth or customer service. Beer choice was also poor, my other half is into craft beers etc so ended up getting a soft drink. Needless to say we scrapped our plans to go there for lunch the next day.
Food came out quick and tasted great! Drinks look and taste good as well. Staff are lovely and decor is really cool. We went for lunch so it was pretty quiet as well which was nice. It is a bit more expensive than i was expecting but defo recommend
