Very tasty food. Lot of extraordinary textures and flavours. Sometimes too many in one dish. Tartar with too much crispy onion which dominating taste and texture and meat is like additional taste - missing in that meat dish. Some warm dishes were too cold already when served. Hot chocolate delicious but also just warm. Great octopus! Very good kimchi. Fish done perfectly in point. Bit pricey according to size of dish but in the other way it worth to pay as you are eating premium, freshly made food not ready prepared and just defrosted rubbish in chain restaurants. You need 3 plates plus dessert to feel full and spend around 36 pounds
Delicious aubergine with peanuts and beet roots small plates. The tandoori chicken is also super tasty. The deco is neat and elegant and the tables near the window are great for groups. I’m not giving 5 stars because our waitress didn’t tell us about the lunch menu only 10£ for 2 plates right away and when we asked to split the bill and gave him our credit cards he charged most of the bill to 1 person! He proposed to call the manager to cancel and re-pay, but we had to leave and this made us have a very awkward business lunch
One of the best places to get your taste buds active. Its a great place and all the flavours in their cuisine are just out of this world. Go for the Tandoori fried chicken - delicious !! Highly recommended if you ever visit Oxford St and Soho - get to this place and the overall experience is awesome
To be fair I've eaten everywhere from the Savoy to an Oil drum on a roundabout in Saigon, and this place is up there with the best, each dish was individual and bold, the atmosphere was very relaxed and the staff were attentive to our needs, and were happy to chat. If we could have, we would have stayed all night! Good prices too!
I loved it here, cool decor and wonderful flavours. The only downside was that my friend argued with me for two days afterwards about whether the bathroom mirror says “He’s a lucky bastard” which could be deemed politically incorrect and definitely grammatically incorrect no apostrophe or “Hey a lucky Bastard” which she considered too random. She even made an Instagram Poll but the results have lead to even more confusion. Until this gets clarified management please please respond I beg you I can’t help but have an accompanying sense of distress whilst remembering our visit
Some dishes were nice but many plates with similar taste profile; creamy, fatty, heavy taste and texture, some with chili. Little too pricy for what it is
Some really interesting flavours, but many of the dishes were a bit over the top. They had a really nice in-house beer on tap. The kimchi rice cake was good. I found the aubergine too sweet for my liking. Probably wouldn’t go again myself, but maybe worth a try just to experience some really crazy over the top flavours. Or just get a pint of their beer
We loved this place. Wonderful, unusual food. We chose a selection of small, and starter size items. The menu was very good at telling you what each dish was, but when we needed clarification on anything the friendly, and helpful staff proved to be very knowledgeable and enthusiastic about the food. We'd popped in to have lunch before going to see 'The Book Of Mormon', and enjoyed it so much that we went back for dessert after the show.
My friend and I have been hearing about Flavour Bastard and naturally couldn't resist trying it ourselves. The dishes were beautifully put together with a mixture of interesting flavours. I would definitely recommend coming here. My favourite was the smoked goat on a millet flour tortilla with frankincense sour cream, orange and spring onion, closely followed by the dessert. We also had spiced hake with three bean stew, turmeric yoghurt and crispy vermicelli as well as poached Burford Brown egg, chestnut puree, olive crumble, celeriac and shimeji mushroom. While trying to decide on the dessert, the owner came over and told us about the new menu they are working on. He invited us to try his new dessert and let him know our thoughts. The rhubarb almond sesame tarts had just come out of the oven and were served on sandalwood-scented custard. As the rose petal sorbet was still being made, we chose the blood orange sorbet instead. We were also given some of the coriander ice cream to try. The tart and custard worked very well together and we suggested some different flavours they could try instead of the sorbet.
5 stars doesn't justify this place. The food is just mind blowingly incredible. The service is excuisite. Eating here is an experience, and was perhaps one of the best food I've come across in London. It's an expensive place, but the price is completely justified.
