Fishtek provided the design and calculations for a recently constructed natural bypass channel on the River Cam in Cambridge. Their professionalism and expertise were exceptional, and the final design reflected the requirements of the brief to provide a natural aesthetic, establish fish passage past two weirs for a full range of species, increase flow to enhance the channel habitats downstream, withstand stock grazing and be safe for children to enjoy. Within hours of completion, fish of several species were already making use of the channel and local people have been very complimentary of the scheme. I would recommend Fishtek to anyone considering similar schemes as they can propose potential options and then draw up the detail of the scheme. The project was delivered in partnership with the Environment Agency and required formal sign off from the national fish pass panel.
