Old, bumpy flags throughout the train station, not suitable for cases. The train heading to Scarborough leaves from Platform 2. The only access to Platform 2 is via an old footbridge, again not practical with luggage. The waiting room is padlocked shut and the toilets are out of service. Get a bus into Scarborough instead!
Filey railway station dates from 1846, when it was built to designs by architect G. T. Andrews. He is noted for his many railway buildings designed for George Hudson's railways, especially for the York and North Midland Railway, which Filey was on. It is of historic importance, so is protected with listing, grade II*.
Beautiful small seaside town, good rail links, short drive from Scarborough. Beautiful promenade, great views, a wonderful huge park, with a great cafe and lots of activities to keep all famiky members happy and engaged. Plenty of independent cafés, shops and restaurants and bars. Very historically beautiful buildings around the town. A large supermarket. Easy parking, what's not to like?
It was OK not alot to see n do though
A nice little station on the Yorkshire Coast Line between Seamer and Hunmanby. It's very spacious and clean. It has a lot of history behind it too and has 2 entrances to the station. Overall very decent.
