Who's responsible for the people that are hired for this company? On 4/10, I received a letter from FIGA. The letter included my insurance adjuster's information. For 21 years I was insured with UPC. On February 27, 2023 UPC was ordered into receivership after Hurricane Ian. Leaving Florida's resident scrambling for home insurance that would cancelled ALL policies March 29, 2023. I understood this company would be swamped with calls and this would be a process. A simple reply would have been professional. I called and left a voicemail, emailed the adjuster Lavonia Nelson. Not until a week later after I didn't get a response, I called back their main number and this is where I was informed she wasn't the assigned adjuster. I emailed her again and stating how unprofessional this was. I just wanted a simple reply. She immediately emailed me back. I was told this was their supervisor. How?? How do you respond back with a inappropriate email? I'm sure this company have informed their employess of their case loads would be a bit more stressful. If you can not work under pressure from people that have lost everything and can't get answers, and then their last options is YOU!! You have the wrong job and attitude. FIND ANOTHER DAMN JOB. It's RIDICULOUS.
My insurance company was ordered into receivership after Hurricane Sally Sep 2020. Today is 27 Feb 2022 and still not settled. FIGA offered settlement of $30k, on a $150k claim. FIGA operates with impunity. No lawmakers local offices in district 1, up to Florida Governor has responded, except for the generic letter that covers their reply to anything from aardvarks to Z.Z. Gabor. Close to $50 million in their slush fund, top 3 executives earn over $200k base salary alone. Remember FIGA was established by Florida Statute §631 as a non-profit. In black and white, it lays out which laws they can simply ignore. I would be in federal prison if I operated under their lack of rules. Remember, FIGA's executive board, are executives in their own independent insurance companies. They get to double dip on salary, props and perks of both. Meanwhile, 30 months 2 1/2 years later, I have no roof, no insurance, no answers. I have gained mold, mildew, odor, damaged ceilings etc. but they just don't care. Reading their plan of operations, it's all gumdrops and lollipops however, in reality it's an insurance company, that will lowball any claim settlement. I have insurance adjuster and lawyer stories too. I should have filed a claim with FEMA also.
How can they employ people who’s only job is to answer every 20th phone call with an excuse about why they are not doing anything at all? I imagine they have a short list to read from, including; My computer is down, I just spoke to my manager and escalated your case, Your old case manager left 4x and I am new, I’m going to send an adjuster out, I don’t know why the adjuster never came out, I am not lying and this is not all a scam. Why yes, yes it is.
Florida Insurance Guarantee Association Has had my claim for over 100 days and has yet to act. Due to this I am unable to obtain insurance on my house. I have literally been turned down by dozens of companies' including Citizens which is supposed to be the company who will insure you when no other company will. I am 4 days from having no insurance on my house and having my mortgage company accelerated my mortgage and I can’t even get anyone at Florida Insurance Guarantee Association to return my calls.
Our building 10 unit HOA had a claim into American Capital insurance; for a claim that happened due to Hurricane Irma. American Capital went bankrupt, but supposedly denied our claim prior to insolvency. Our claim was then turned over to FIGA. The issue is that people that purchased after the fact have to deal with property insurance skyrocketing to $26,500 from $7,900 and then this year to $34,000. Lawyers and insurance companies drag their feet, deny claims, and the owners have to pick up the tab for property insurance that covers nothing. Its terrible that our governor has allowed this situation to get out of hand. FIGA is NOT a guaranty association; its controlled by insurance companies. There is NO communication and FIGA does not have to provide any. No reports, no reason, just a denied claim that took over 2 years to review. It would be great if someone answered the phone and if FIGA was held to the same standard as other insurance companies; but its the State and they can do whatever they want. Just do yourself or your HOA a HUGE favor; have your roof inspected immediately following a hurricane by a reputable roofing contractor- and just MAKE THE REPAIRS. Yes, its expensive but it will cost you far more to have an open claim, live in an unsafe building, while your lawyer does nothing, and the claim is never going to be covered and you will have to pay HUGE property insurance bills waiting for absolutely nothing. Insurance will bleed you dry with an open claim- just get it fixed and keep your building repaired. Having property insurance is just a hole to throw money into- they won't cover anything and the 25% rule is an absolute joke.
My son in law has had a plastic tarp on his roof and this claim was made in February. How can you do this to active duty military? You are a disgrace!
Spoke with them once since I received their letter in the mail have not heard back from them since my phone are several emails I’ve sent now their phone says literally there is no one there to help you
No answers to my multiple emails or calls for 3 weeks after my insurance got liquidated with my claim unsolved
They continue to reassign adjusters. No one returns calls or cares.
The absolute worst, no one responds back. Overhaul needed.
