Volunteers very welcoming. Wee one loved the museum. We had called ahead and were told there was a small flight of stairs up to the museum. Unfortunately turned out to be more than small. My mother missed out on the displays but enjoyed her cup of tea and scone. It eas only when leaving we realised that there was a door at street level into the museum. If this could have been opened my mother could have viewed the exhibits. Come on folk get the thinking caps on! Hence 4 and not 5 stars.
Visited on a bike ride. Cycle parking by cafe or in car park nearby. Food and drink great and well priced. Staff helpful.
Waitressing staff very friendly and helpful. However, it appears that if you don't reserve a table in the cafe then very is little to no chance of getting a seat. The food also stops at two I think, although the cafe remains open later. A strange set up that doesn't cater too well for casual visitors

Delightful wee treasure with a warm understated welcome from curator...and insights into a past life.
A 'couthy' museum with limited display material but enough for a twenty minute amble through the upstairs part of the museum, and the adjacent building. No entrance fee but I felt my 'donation' of £5 was sufficient. The museum sits above a lovely little tea shop, The Harvest Mouse' where tea and other hot beverages are served in China cups and mugs - quite right too! The menu is not extensive but for a large scone this is the place to go. Staff were lovely, chatty, informative and just really nice, what more do you want? On a separate subject the background music played was so perfect for me, all sixties and seventies, but that's my age I guess! Beautiful outside seating area and a couple of benches nearby allow limited numbers to sit in the dappled shade afforded by the trees. A small brook runs under an.old stone bridge by the museum and cafe and many House Martins were playing in the sky above. I was there on a sunny day in Jun 21 which, after a very wet May, was idyllic. I recommend this but maybe not if you're thinking it's an all day visit, two or two and a half hours was the most I reckon.
One of the best wee museums I've visited, well worth a visit.
Really friendly cafe with delicious food.
