We booked a table of 12 on the day and the staff were very accommodating! Food was great and any problems were sorted quickly. Chef came out to speak to us which was nice. Toilets were clean. Free carpark just across the road. Good menu with a few veggie options. Had dairy free ice cream which was an unexpected bonus!
We have just experienced the most delicious meal in the loveliest of pubs with superb hosts. Such a welcoming pub for both people and their hounds. Love it! Thank you so much for what was a lovely evening and Max the dog really enjoyed his ice cream cone and all the attention. Highly reccomend this great pub The Robinson Family
Feels like one of the last standing, true, family run pubs & we absolutely love it here - open as a freehouse pub should be & at family friendly times. Incredible, lovely food, real ales & always a warm cosy welcome for us. Please keep doing what you do - you're awesome Vegetarian options: There are always great vegetarian options for those that bat that way. Personally, being from farming stock I like a good local slab of meat with my veg. Parking: Ample, safe parking across the road. Kid-friendliness: As a family pub, we'll behaved children are catered for really well & made really welcome. Even finding things & adapting where possible for more picky little eaters. Well behaved children should be welcome in any local pub as part of normal life & the surroundings they grow up in.
Had an evening meal at this little gem after a long walk in the forest on our holiday. We booked ahead and we're assured we could bring our 2 spaniels with us. We arrived early but this was not a problem for the caring and friendly owners, who got us a seat by the fire. Creamy garlic mushrooms were to die for followed by a beautifully presented rump steak. Chef explained the meat was locally sourced and it was so tender and well seasoned. Absolutely delicious with all the trimmings. Our eyes were bigger than our bellies but the food was too good to leave behind. Teamed with crispy onion rings, homemade coleslaw and some of the best chips we've ever tasted. Chef even brought out some cooked sausage for our weary dogs. A good selection of homemade puddings too - we opted for white chocolate and strawberry brulee and a sticky toffee pudding. Scrumptious! We were made to feel very welcome and, much like the valley, friendly faces everywhere. We're from Yorkshire and so familiar with a good chat over good beer, and we were not disappointed! Thank you for a lovely meal, good beer, and lovely company
Friendly welcoming staff. Great choice on the menu, not over priced. very accommodating for allergies. The food is delicious with plenty of it. A good choice of local ale and ciders to choose from. Dog friendly.
Passing visit whilst doing some greenlaning in the area and they managed to squeeze us in for a spot of lunch. The food was absolutely faultless and huge portions so great value for money. The cod was a lot bigger than expected and the coconut chicken curry was amazing. The homemade chips were a really welcomed addition as they tasted so good. We were too full for dessert but noticed that the menu said they were all handmade. Highly recommend a visit as it was a very cosy atmosphere.
Staff were really attentive and despite being busy, they made time to chat with us and entertain the kids. Food was excellent, what was really special was a member of staff noticing a few people in the group were sticking to veggies and offering an alternative to the carvery meat. We were a large group of 10 and they really went out of the way to accommodate us. It's very clear why this is a popular family pub, everyone is put at ease and able to enjoy their meals. Thank you for a wonderful Sunday lunch.
Called in here after an afternoon walking in the area, poked my head in the door and asked if they could accommodate three tired dogs and their very hungry and thirsty owners, even though it was outside of the normal service times. I was greeted by the landlady who said no problem, please come in. The welcome we all received created a fab first impression, the landlady, who I think was called Nicki, made a point of not just welcoming us, but our dogs as well. Now we had already looked at the menu prior to arriving so had a preconceived idea of what we were going to order from the menu, however, Colin the landlord, explained further what was to come with the meals we were going to order and was so passionate about the quality of his ingredients. Now I have eaten in too many pubs to remember, I have had some stunning meals in the past, but not many will have had the lasting impression that this meal will. I had the Jerk chicken, as did my father in law, our wives had the homemade burgers. The food was off the scale good, portions were very generous, and as for the puddings, an absolute must to finish your meals. If you are in the area and looking for superb meal, served up in a very welcoming environment by lovely people, you cannot go wrong here, almost tempted to travel the 150miles it is from home to just experience the food again, thank you the Fforest Inn. P.S. Poppy, Ruben's and Harley the dogs couldn't thank you enough for your kind treat you gave them, can't wait to come back.
Absolutely lovely place to eat out! We were travelling back from a day out on holiday and came across this little gem,Food delicious,Very good value for money,Owner's lovely and welcoming with a good sense of humour,Would 100% recommend this place,Thankyou for completing our holiday would definitely return.
We arrived later than expected from a long day horse riding and could not have received a better welcome. We were quickly sorted out with our room and a drink the meal was great and probably enough food for 2 meals. Breakfast was arranged early so we could get a early start and was perfect. The hosts were great.
