Fantastic place for a picnic and water sports. Take your own paddle board, kayak or canoe or hire one for £24 a hour for a double sit on kayak or row boat for 4. This is a lovely place especially in the sun. Free parking for National Trust members or from £5 for none members. There is also a cafe serving light meals and ice creams.
Really enjoyed our trip here. £6 to park for 2 hours and plenty to do. We took the dog for a nice walk in the area towards the bottom of the lake where they can be off the lead. She had a good swim and then we walked to the cafe for refreshments. On the way we saw someone painting, people swimming, a group of paddle boarders and multiple picnics. Lots of space and nice and open. Highly recommended.
A great place to enjoy for the whole family and with lots of space to have a picnic, there is a cafe on site, toilets, kayak and boat hire, playground, you can easily spend a whole day there. You can also bring your own paddle board, or kayak. The scenery is stunning and the walk around the meadow is beautiful. Watch out for the steam train to go by!
Beautiful national trust location with a lovely cafe on site that serves great fresh food and cakes. Plenty of walks and water activities should you wish to rent a boat or paddle board. Plenty of grassy areas to relax on and a little play area for children. You could easily spend the day here.
A beautiful location away from the busy Bowness. Great place to see yachts from up close and jump into the shallower part of the lake. Lovely cafe with plenty of drinks and food options. Many picnic benches to relax by and clean, well-maintained toilets. But there aren’t many parking spots and the parking is quite a walk away from the actual spot. It's a bumpy walk down to the lakeside. Definitely recommend for a calm and beautiful end of the day visit that’s when it’s practically empty.
very lovely place to stop by, at this spot, one gets to walk by the Lake Windermere, even dip hands and feet into the lake waters. the leaves are beautiful in autumn, colors changing, a good place to set picnic mats and picnic spread. the nearby boat house gives some life to the lake, there's also a cafe nearby that's helpful to nurse hungry stomachs or thirsty throats.
Great place, perfect water for swimming in the beautiful lake and breathe some fresh air. 1 star off for the closing time - how can the park be closed? Evening would be a nice time to spend it next to the water or see the sunset. 5pm is definitely not enough.
A great open space, car parking is limited parking attendant was very pleasant and helpful. Has a nice cafe and ice cream place by the water's edge. The national trust were running an activity area with lots of games which was free and there is also a children's play area. Great views across the lake.
Magical place. Great grassy area for chilling, picnics, playing games. Lovely cafe sells cakes, sandwiches, beer in bottles and a few hot pies. Watersports facilities are great too with lovely staff. Parking can be challenging as car park isn't that big big enough, it just gets full on busy days
What a lovely find. Great day out. Loved the info from the National Trust man. Took a picnic but there's also a lovely cafe where we purchased coffee. Amazing views and walks.
