I never really "got" Shakespeare at School, but went to see Macbeth at Stafford Castle in 2003 whilst trying to impress my girlfriend and we had a lovely evening. Exactly 19 years on we returned to the scene of the crime celebrating our 14th wedding anniversary attending with our 12 yr old daughter and it was magnificent. A brilliant production In stunning surroundings. The acting was immaculate highly recommended to everyone
Been here twice, for Macbeth and Romeo & Juliet in different years, and wach toke it's been a charming, moving performance with the castle as a dramatic backdrop. Highly recommended if you can make it.
Was a very good performance from acting, the script, the music plus stage design and build. Location is a big plus and so nice to have on our doorstep.
Great production, fabulous setting and perfect weather.....couldn't ask for more.
Definitely well worth visiting if Shakespeare is your thing - bear in mind that the performance is in traditional language, so can be hard to follow if you aren't familiar with it. The performance itself was excellent, a great cast and very well performed. My only issue was that the location of the support pillars for the roof of the seating stand weren't clear on the seating plan, and I had one right in front of me which spoilt the view somewhat. The seat do get a bit hard so definitely take a cushion with you, and it does get chilly when the sun goes down.
Brilliant performance. Very well organized.
Great outdoor theatre experience. Covered seating so the performance continues even in wet weather. Bar serving alcoholic and non alcoholic drinks, ice cream and snacks.
Literally awful, got blinded and nearly suffered from heat stroke a couple years back whilst watching some Shakespeare play because there was no where to get water and no where that wasnt in the sun. The was no microphones and they were all quiet. I'd rather die than go there again.
Amazing! A very spooky and Scottish interpretation of Macbeth. I loved the witches and the music. Both my boys were petrified!
One of the highlights of the Summer Festival in Stafford. Hopefully the new Trust will ensure it continues to deliver the same high value entertainment for years to come.
