Had 3 visits and the first 2 visits could not fault the place. However the 3rd visit not so good. From the outside the hotel looks great and i am a fan of the dated decor , however for the price you pay it is very steep. The rooms are tiny for what you pay and a pre warning that there is an extractor fan outside your room would have been grand . For the price of breakfast i did expect the quality to be a lot better. The price of the breakfast actually put us off an evening meal at the hotel. It is actually a lovely hotel as stated in the first couple of visits and i am sure my review will have little effect on the pricing of the rooms or food. I will more than likely visit again as i am a glutton for punishment on the bank balance . The staff however where great.
Had an enjoyable night here, courtesy of their Black Friday offer. Very good value. Enjoyed a bar meal , good burger and lovely brekkie. Can't hold hotel responsible for the wind and rain!!Rooms: 4/5
Adequate room I upgraded to sea view, which we had however the room was very basic. Very little choice at dinner and disappointing. Breakfast OK but the tea and coffee were terrible, undrinkable. Overall we wouldn't stay there again. Rooms: Basic even after paying for an upgrade.
At one time, The Falmouth would have had charm, appeal and grandeur. Now, I’m afraid, all that’s left is a faded, slightly dingy, vaguely depressing tourist hotel with a pretty view of the sea. The cracked and missing mosaic floor tiles, the threadbare carpet, the magnolia-coloured walls covered in scuff marks, the wi-fi that doesn’t work, the strangely-angled bathrooms and hard beds add character, yes. Character, but they don't add up to a very comfortable stay. The staff remind me of attendants at a home for the elderly — continually smiling and trying to keep the guests mostly of a certain age happy and calm. All in all, staying here is an experience I can endure...once.
The general manager took actions to compensate my parents and stated various actions that are being implemented so this does not arise again as follows: Here at The Falmouth Hotel guest feedback is at the core of the Hotel’s Operations and we appreciate you taking the time to share the experience that was not a pleasant one, naturally not happy to learn of what transpired. Following up on your detailed report, I have now shared all the information with the relevant Head of Departments for remedial work to be put in place to ensure that service is at its best all the time at each given stage of all our guest stays  and  visits. I would like for you to keep coming to stay with us at The Falmouth Hotel and I hope that these one-off incidents do not deter you from continuing to do so. I would also like to share that we have started our enhancement and refurbishment project from the inside out of rooms and all our event spaces to keep in line with all guest expectations and preserve The Falmouth Hotel’s history as a grade II listed property. Furthermore, a robust continued training program for the staff, for all departments,  will bring the needed touch-up to all guest’s needs. As I have just taken over as the new General Manager moving to Cornwall from London, I find that this project will enhance all our services moving forward and I am well vested in it as it will revamp and change the narrative. A very disappointing evening!!! Parents 50th wedding anniversary 10th March which was booked back in January. Arrived to find we were eating in the Terrace not the normal restaurant which was not set up for meals at all. The Terrace was uninviting, very cold, bland and usually used for breakfast. Did not feel special at all. The table was set up for 10 not 12, no wine glasses, no condiments. Not decorated in any was to make it feel special. I questioned why 10, to be told that was the booking. I checked name etc and asked for the table to be made up to 12 and to decorate it with some "50" confetti I had bought. When returning to be seated the table had not been decorated or anything added to it! Placed our food order, to be asked more than twice what name we were booked under. On asking if a problem they said no. We then asked for the manager, to be told they were working! Umm yes, well come and sort out the problem. We were never asked for a drink order or given a wine/drinks menu. A while after food order, was then told no garlic mushrooms or enough fishcakes which we had ordered. On receiving the starters was not given/offered bread and one had soup! Surely this is serving etiquette!!! We had to ask for bread but after this other tables were offered bread basket. Had to ask to order drinks. Had to ask for empty glasses to be taken away. The restaurant manager turned up to say that our booking had been "deleted" and the table we were at was for a pre-wedding party of 10. We explained the issues but we felt she did not grasp that it was my parents 50th wedding anniversary which they will never get back. I said an offer for wine would not go a miss and offered 1 bottle! We are so disappointed with the evening. When main meal arrived we had to ask for steak knifes. These are normally put on the table at time of order. Again serving etiquette. Other people there were complaining. Overall the food was lovely, although the belly pork had 2 small new potatoes cut in half! Having got married there, attended weddings and Christmas parties, we will not return. My parents were very disappointed and even though booked a room for the night and stated their 50th wedding anniversary, it failed to follow through to the the meal. No proper managers that night and the following morning. They even got a 5 year old to write a card for them - note the Mr & Mr and surname spelt wrong. When you are constantly called "my love" by someone out of school so annoying. Incompetent staff in need of proper training. Will not be recommending. Plenty more hotels to make a special event feel special so avoid here.
My review is solely on the fitness facilities. I have recently just renewed my membership thinking that things may have improved since I was there last. Unfortunately it hasn't, the sauna has been out of action for over a year and still is, the jacuzzi was broken today but they were working on it, the pool was chilly which is fairly frequent but if you only want a swim it's OK. The gym however still only has one running machine the other broke some months ago and I was told it was going to be fixed, still waiting. There are no rowing machines but there are two cross fit machines and two bikes. The changing room is always cold and beyond tired but it is always clean and the staff friendly. It is disappointing that the prices have gone up but the facilities have gone down.
My wife and l booked the hotel restaurant for our 50th wedding anniversary with twelve family and friends. Without going into all the details and faults which are many they said the booking was wiped off the system but they had the details of our room booking this was booked for the 10th March back in January . We were squeezed on a table, no elbow room also l was ask my name and room number twice by the so called waiting staff who never layed the table with condiments or wine glasses etc. we were not offered a drinks menu we had to ask for everything you would expect trained staff would do automatically , then when we finished our meal and some were leaving the table we were shouted at by a young waitresses from across the room with who's paying the bill ,so embarrassing and totally unprofessional, my wife was nearly in tears all evening and the experience ruined our celebration totally. When l asked to see the manager I was told not available , then a little while later after being fobbed off by a very young supervisor, the so called restaurant manager came to see us who just said she was sorry, but she should have checked the table was prepared like any other restaurant I would have thought that was standard restaurant etiquette I know nothing will be said or done about this so thank you for destroying our evening . It was totally unacceptable. If the management if they can be found want further details my room was 211 and my contact number should be on file
Amazing party night as always! Come back year on year…. Check the tables at breakfast far too wobbly and no it was me!!! Nearly wore my breakfast instead of eating it!! Amazing place though worth the visit
An amazing hotel, very clean and our room was beautiful with an amazing view. The breakfast choice was very good. Would love to stay here again.Rooms: 5/5
Went for a swim, pool was quite cold, changing rooms freezing to the point grandchildren were shivering. Pool area not monitored hence teenagers allowed to run amuck, diving, bombing, screaming, we left. Thought to get a hot chocolate in the bar to warm up unfortunately these arrived cold, after being served by a disinterested staff member with a constant sniff, I didn't take his apathy personally as he served others in a reluctant manner too. Such a shame a treat afternoon turned out to be disappointing.
