Great university with a sterling reputation. Many great artists and scientists studied here and my friends who studied here have only stellar things and experiences to share. The campus is extremely beautiful and it was a great pleasure to be here.
Top research university for Science and engineering. Beautiful campus but high cost of living in and around the university. The bureaucracy is the worst thing about this university. Noting ever gets done and everything takes ages to be approved. But have good memories here.
Great music venue! Im a wheelchair user, and after a pretty negative experience 7 years ago, my expectations weren't that high. From the bar staff to the security team, everyone was brilliant. We had a raised platform, which gave us a great view and the acoustics were perfect.
Had a stroll round the campus and snapped some pictures of the sculptures. Something different around every corner. Particularly liked the way the trees were framed in the Barbara Hepworth piece. Photos would have been better on a sunnier day but still a pleasant walk with a few hills and steps.
Excellent facilities, friendly staff, well signposted campus, lots of places to eat, drink and break/lunch. Forum building is particularly Impressive with a good selection of healthy and tasty eating options, seating and picnic areas.
Future islands gig, absolutely fabulous venue, easy parking and all the staff were brilliant !
As a parent i have been pleased with Exeter overall. The teaching has been good and my daughter has had a great time. But it's all been very disappointing with regards to the year abroad. I really would NOT recommend it. Firstly they were told of all these far flung countries...Australia, Japan etc etc. They were told places depended somewhat on grades. But as she was a high 2:1 average I assumed all would be OK. Not so. She listed 8 countries and got none of them. Eventually she ended going somewhere very near to home. OK, fine, we adapted. Then, largely because of Brexit, the visa process for this particular country was extremely complex and we had no help whatsoever with this from Exeter beyond a letter telling us to contact the embassy also the wrong embassy they sent us to. It cost a lot of money and the complexity of meeting the visa requirements took an enormous amount of time and was pretty stressful. She was the only one who managed to meet the requirements out of four others who are currently there on tourist visas and face more stress over Christmas or not being allowed back into the country the new year! It won't be the same for everyone, it will depend on the country but don't expect any visa help, it will be met from Exeter with "We can't give out individual visa advice". Unfortunately the host university support was not a lot better. Very confusing timetabling and were rude to my daughter more than once when she didn't understand how her modules worked. She wants to come home which is so sad and she's a people person! I can't complain about individual staff members at Exeter who have been trying but the system really has failed them on their year abroad program. Also worth noting that the Turing scheme is not up and running properly and so funding has not come through so far for my daughter. Other students that i know of have faired better at other Universities but it's not how it was when I was at Uni doing a year abroad. Bear in mind there is no guarantee of going anywhere you would want to and the onus is very much on you to figure everything else out and most will need a LOT of parent support and money up front for visa and travel costs...which prejudices those from less advantaged backgrounds or those not able to borrow money until loans come through.
I want to give 5* to the campus! It’s so beautiful and diverse, you can walk around and across it everyday and it gets ever more lovely. As you study here, you become a witness of how nature and landscape evolve throughout the seasons, those “refrains of nature” that give peace to everyone who is willing to be touched by the beauties of the earth that Rachel Carson wrote about. Very hard not to fall in love with this place.
Loved the campus terrain and buildings. Apart from being in top 100 universities of the world this place is a treat for serious students. A history in itself too.
The Darkness absolutely rocked the room. Venue is only 5mins out of town centre and parking close by. Known as a classical venue it can host rock and pop bands too.
