Sitting by the pond walking through the woods beautiful. Wear wellingtons or boots in the forest it can be muddy. Serene quietness watch the squirrels sit very still and if you have food nuts they will come to you

This is an excellent nature reserve. Really well conserved with fantastic opportunities for viewing Red Squirrels and birds.

I think the eskrigg nature reserve is a very peacful place to visit. As a local of lockerbie i have often taken the dog for a walk out here and there are plenty of different paths and tracks through the woods. There is also 2 birdwatching huts and the eskrigg centre which has books and posters giving details of the different kinds of birds you should expect to see when looking. I once went to a bat walk event here which teaches you about the different kinds of bats you will see in the evening and we had a chance to wear night vision goggles to see them. There are also many information signs telling you about local wildlife in the area. There is a toilet as well which is accesible for the disabled.
