Unfortunately our trip to Ernespie for a nice lunch was let down by a soggy, sad looking ‘steak pie’. The puff pastry topping had barely seen the oven and was 90% raw and inedible. Such a shame as the beef filling was very tasty. Perhaps just an off day but for the best part of £13+, it was not worth for money. No one checked back on our table to make sure everything was ok and we got up to pay 15 minutes after we’d finished eating with our dirty plates still on the table. Will return, but probably not to eat.
Visited on Thursday the 9th of May. It was a lovely sunny day and what a lovely place. Every part was clean, tidy and well maintained. The barn had new editions of a few days old baby goats. My partner and daughter could have spent all day with them. Zipline was good fun and the bobsleigh was fun especially the stopping.nWe had booked the cafe for a wee bite to eat. Our daughter got a haggis and cheese toastie, it was very nice. We got a cheese scone and a slice of coffee and walnut cake. The scone was the size of a bolder. Could have done with a bit of pickle or chutney thrown in as a side as it was on the dry side. Walnut cake tasted very nice but again a bit on the dry side, still had tea left so I could wash it down with some tea.nIf back in the area we would definitely visit again as over all it is just a lovely place to spend an enjoyable few hours.
Fist the good, the place is really nice, great gifts, great for little kiddies. Went on Sunday for tea, second time we visited for food.nnBoth times, the staff have been half interested, the young staff are just not up to the job not their fault as they should be trained. The older staff looked like they didn’t want to be there & didn’t want us to be there either. We just didn’t feel like we were out for a treat, which after paying a hundred pound for a family of 4 is really disappointing. We never complain as it’s easier to vote with your feet and not return.nnThe Roast was really nice in terms of taste, however it was stone cold. Had to go and tell them we had finished so they’d bring our next course. Unfortunately the staff are just not doing the place justice. The building and cafe are really nice so it’s unfortunate that the staff are not of the same high standard.nnI’m assuming that the management are not nice to work for because I see no other reason why they would be so miserable and downbeat.nnIn short -nnNice establishmentnNice giftsnLovely honeynGood for kidsnnTerrible service in cafenFood is just ok and was coldnDepressing meal out
Excellent place for all the family. Very friendly staff. We visited a second time in 3 months...this time was for pumpkin picking with our granddaughter. Cafe can be slightly expensive, but the pizzas are good value if shared between two.
My granddaughter Esme loved her day at Ernespie farm soft play & also brought the big kid out in granny too!! Lovely atmosphere & surroundings! To top it off the food was delicious . Staff friendly, approachable & very helpful. First class all round.
