The first thing you will notice about Embassy Restaurant is the bright yellow paint with the Nigerian flag on the signage - proudly Nigerian innit? lol. Anyhoo, I stepped inside the restaurant and it appeared empty at first but as I moved further inside, I saw a few people seated; two on each table and a Nollywood movie blaring from the two TV sets in the different sections of the restaurant. The interior was just alright, nothing posh or fantastic, however, it was neat, clean and serene.. I found myself a good table in one corner where I could have a good view of the movie. Don't look at me like that! Yes I watch Nollywood movies :) When I stepped into the restaurant, I was not sure they were actually opened for business. There was no staff in sight. I proceeded to find myself a seat and saw a staff attending to the other customers. When she was through with them, I signalled to her and requested for the menu. She was quite polite, friendly and attentive. I purposely asked her some questions regarding the food on their menu and she was patient enough to answer all of them. The dessert menu looked interesting and I was eager to try it but unfortunately the staff said they don't do dessert. Now, why have a dessert menu when you do not do dessert?? She took the orders quickly and I watched the movie while waiting for my starter. Drinks first, I ordered Malta Guinness and water and for my Starter, I settled for beef suya and it was so on point. The Beef Suya was £6.00 and the quantity was not bad at all. I have ordered suya from a different restaurant before for same price and it was way too small and tasteless! The quantity was great. I asked the waitress to pack it up as take away and she said that will be £1.00. Sorry! £1.00 for what? £1.00 for the take away pack. Ok! After that, the main course arrived; I ordered White Rice and Ayamase with Assorted meat and plantain. Whilst I was placing the order, the waitress asked if I would like Plantain as a side and I gladly said yes (who doesn't like plantain) and she said that will be £3.00 extra. Habatically! £3.00 again? No P! As you know by now, I love my food hot and spicy but the chilli in this Ayamase made me wonder if they still had any left in their kitchen. I love Ayamase sauce for its flavour, pepper and spice but the Ayamase at Embassy was not working for me at all. It was too spicy and er, not too tasty. I had to eat it like that but the plantain and assorted meat made up for it. Indeed, it was not the best Ayamase experience for me. In total, I spent £23.00. Did I enjoy the food? Well, I enjoyed the Suya but not the main food. The service was great. Food came out in good time and the quantity of the food was very good too. Will I go back again? Yes because I want to try out their buffet. They usually have a Sunday Buffet from 1pm to 4pm at £10.00 per adult and £5.00 for kids. That doesn't sound bad at all and it will be a good opportunity to try out their other dishes.
