Absolutely brilliant garage.
Everything you would expect from a local garage.
Friendly staff.
Attention to detail with servicing and repairs.
Very professional job done servicing my van. At a competitive price!
At no extra charge had a strange noise diagnosed and fixed!

They've always done their best to fit me in where other garages have fobbed me off (e.g aircon job). They've explained what work needs doing. Also competatively priced !

Very disappointed with this garage. Took my wife's car to them recently because the windscreen wipers weren't working. I made it clear to them I did not want them to run up a large bill on this vehicle as it is an old car and I didn't wish to spend too much money on it. They'd had the car for two days when I called in and asked the owner, Mark, if they had solved the problem. 

He said they hadn't but were working on it. My exact words to him were: " Well please don't let the meter run on this ." ( clearly meaning I didn't wish to spend too much on the repair)He replied: " Don't worry, we'll look after you." 

A little over a week later they rang to say the fault had been repaired and the car was ready for collection. They had duly fixed the wipers - but at a cost  not far short of £300.! 

When I expressed my surprise at the costly bill and reminded them I had specifically requested them not to run up heavy costs, the garage manager said that given the time they had taken to find and repair the fault, they should be charging me double that amount! 

Now I know from experience that vehicle electrical problems can be very  hard to trace sometimes and that mechanics can spend many hours trying to rectify them. And  I am not disputing their claim that they spent many hours on this vehicle before finally remedying the problem.

However I had made it clear to them from the outset that if the fault was not going to be an easy fix, I did not wish them to allow the charges to escalate. 

Had they informed me during the time they had the car that this was going to be a very costly repair, I would have paid them for the  investigative work done up to that point and then taken the vehicle away. I would certainly not have wanted to spend nearly 300 quid for a wiper electrical fault on a car whose market value was only roughly double that amount!

I rang a local auto electrical company and asked them how they would have dealt  with me and was told that if, after initial investigation, they thought the problem was going to be time-consuming and consequently costly, they would have kept me fully up to date on the costs being incurred. They would not, they said, have presented me with such a large bill without keeping me fully informed on the rising costs.

I've used Elsham garage  on and off since I moved to Elsham in 2011, and  have always found their work good and their manner helpful. 

Regrettably, after this experience, I shall not be using them again.
