Our favourite BnB in the whole world! Martin and Melanie run an incredible guest house in the beautiful Castle Cary. I have visited twice now and plan another stay.nnThe house is beautiful and the rooms extremely inviting. Breakfast is my favourite part - talking with Martin, Melanie and the other guests. The kitchen setting is exquisite and the food delicious with lots of lovely fresh fruits, eggs, granola, compotes. I was lucky enough to come on a day with poached pears.nnPerfect location to visit surrounding towns such as Bruton, Glastonbury and Wells.
What a wonderful stay we had.nMartin and Melanie are the most perfect hosts who just cannot do enough for you. I had an issue which Martin sorted with a few trips to his local post office. Much appreciated.nBig bedroom, big bathroom a super duper breakfast which gives Martin the chance to show his culinary skills off to great effect! Everything is fresh and home made - do not pass over Melanie’s own made granola. Delicious.nThe breakfast is taken at a communal table which gave us the chance to chats to other guests who were lovely...fellow Celts from Scotland and Ireland.nThank goodness genuine hospitality is alive and thriving and especially in this marvellous bed and breakfast.nnTop marks....top place, top host and hostess, highly recommended.
Lovely people, very friendly and attentive. Very homely. Beds are comfortable, as are the rooms, Top floor challenging but worth it for the views. Breakfast is second to none. Cooked to order, filling and plentiful. The gardens are really lovely, giving you the opportunity to walk the breakfast off.
A home from home B&B with wonderful hosts!nNothing was too much trouble for Martin and Mel!nWe were at a wedding a few miles away in North Cadbury on the Saturday so travelled up on Friday, deciding to stay for 3 nights.nWe asked Martin for details of a local taxi firm and he said we didn't need to worry as he would take us and collect us! Fantastic!nHe also booked us in to the local pub for the Friday night to have dinner and similarly arranged a brilliant village pub on Sunday for lunch.nWe hadn't travelled light in terms of luggage so we were again, very kindly, offered the neighbouring room to use as a dressing room without charge for our entire stay.nOur room was comfortable with everything required for a 3 night stay and everything was spotlessly clean.nBreakfast was a social affair where as well as delicious with homemade jams, compotes, granola and muesli. Artisan breads, Martins lovely scrambled eggs, bacon sandwich complemented the home made fare.nMartin and Mels intimate local knowledge proved very interesting and useful and was greedily absorbed by my wife, Michele and I.nOverall we had a brilliant stay and felt we left having made good friends with our fabulous hosts.nIf you're looking for a B&B in the BA7 area do not hesitate to book Ellesmere House in Castle Cary you will not be disappointednChris Rose stayed 27th to 30th January 2023
What a place! Martin & Melanie are so kind and accommodating. It really is a home from home, the views from the bedroom & bathroom are beautiful!nIt was my birthday and Martin helped my partner sort a bottle of Prosecco which he put on ice in the beautiful garden for us to enjoy. He also provided a taxi service to a local pub he had recommended for a meal! Others are right, the granola really is the best!nThe welcome from Poppy & Willow really made it. Thanks both & well stay again next time we’re in the are!
