Fascinating place and an amazing achievement. The tour guide (Ray) was excellent… knowledgeable, funny and interesting. Seeing more of the power station would make this five stars, as would a better cafe.

Well worth every minute! Amazing reception with information an photographs. Then a historical background film, followed by a tour in the tunnel with friendly staff. Great afternoon from a group of lads

A really interesting amazing trip about this hidden, important power station. Inside is apsolutely amazing with so many contraptions and things working right I'm front of your eyes! Unfortunately you cannot bring cameras and bags but believe me, it is a brilliant experience. Our tour-guide was really friendly and was open to any questions asked. It's simply amazing and a lot of it can't be explained in a Google maps review! The center leads up to the main tour so is slightly lacking although they do have a great video flying over Snowdon! Definitely worth a trip BUT book in advance!

An incredible place to visit. It's a hydroelectric power station built into the heart of a mountain in the middle of snowdonia, and you wouldn't know it was there. Awesome engineering feat... The generating hall is big enough to build St Pauls Cathedral in, and still have room to spare. If you're interested in engineering, or are just curious how the whole of Wales can flick the kettle on after corrie, and not get a powercut, then it's worth a visit. The tour is disabled accessible, but you need to be able to walk, aided or not, for about maybe 100 feet, to get from the visitor centre to the bus which takes you on the tour, which lasts about 1 1/2 hours. There is a cafe onsite, selling the usual sort of things. All in all an enjoyable place to visit.

The Visitor Centre is on the A486, about 1.4km from the Dinorwig Hydro Power Station, which is within a tunnel deep under the mountains. The Centre's setting itself is very attractive with the mountains as the backdrop. Visitors are taken by coach into the tunnel. First thing to do is to book tickets at the Centre. There's a decent restaurant where one could have something to eat or drink while waiting. If you have a longer wait, I would advise paying a visit to the National Slate Museum which is 950 metres away. It's free and could be an eye-opener. The power station is a great engineering feat. Off-peak electricity is used to pump water from the lake at ground-level into a reservoir at the top of the mountain. The water is then released at times of high demand to generate power. Mobiles phones, hand bags, rucksacks etc are not allowed. Lockers are provided at reception. The 45-minute tour is interestingly presented by the tour guide. You'll come out knowing where the blast of energy for the nation's cuppa is coming from.
