A nice compact spot in Blackrock market for some decent Tapas and drinks. Could become quite cramped and noisy during busy hours but otherwise all okay. Most menu items are fine, service was quick. Called them up right when we wanted to dine, yet they invited us to walk-in and managed to arrange us a table. A casual spot to hangout with friends or as couples.
Me and my husband had an early Valentine's Day dinner at El Cellar and we had the best night ever! The atmosphere was so nice and relaxed, our waitress was lovely and kind, I told her I'm pregnant and she even made sure to get me vegan aioli so I wouldn't eat raw eggs. The food was absolutely amazing so we will surely be returning and raccomanding El Cellar. Only note is we couldn't tip by card unfortunately and we didn't have any cash on hand next time we will be ready.
Lovely staff, cozy romantic vibe with a lot of potential, but unfortunately the positives stop here. We visited for a date night and the first thing that stood out was a strong smell of food. The place didn't have proper ventilation and we left there reeking of cooking oil had to put all our clothes in the wash when we got home. It was hard to enjoy the experience as we couldn't smell anything else while there. Our table was sticky from god knows what, which didn't add to the experience. We ordered patatas bravas - drenched in oil and lacking taste or any semblance of spiciness; very bland deep fried paella balls that had so little chorizo, I doubted it was what we ordered again, drenched in oil; a very unimpressive cheeseboard, and a roasted red pepper/aubergine dish that was the only tasty part of our meal. Finally, we ordered Crema Catalana - lumpy, soggy caramel top, and with aromatics so powerful it caused us to leave the dessert uneaten. Their coffee machine was broken and they didn't have any hot water for tea either. The next day I woke up with heartburn. Suffice to say, it was overall a poor experience and would not recommend this place to anyone. There are plenty other tapas places in Dublin with much higher standards!
Really good tapas restaurant. Plenty of vegan and vegetarian options. Every dish we ordered here was amazing! The main one I’d recommend is the Canelons. It’s out of this world. The patatas bravas were also really good. And if you like mushrooms, try out the Revueltos de Setas. Amazing as well. Overall, I recommend this place to anyone, vegans and non-vegans alike!
Lovely ambience inside but we got a place outside as it was busy. Prefer sitting inside! Maybe skip the breads as they were too crisp and burnt.
Am very disappointed with this visit. The overall quality of the food and service has dropped dramatically since my last visit. Music was blaring and in consistent. Didn't feel as welcomed or appreciated as previous visits. New management???? New chef?? Dunno but might have lost a customer here.
This is a casual dining experience. They suggest you have 3 dishes, which I found about right. The patatas bravas were delicious. Reasonable size portions, so not really traditional Spanish style. There is a good wine list.
The place looks nice but it wasn't well-cleaned. We ordered three different dishes and all tasted bad for different reasons. The wine by the glass wasn't well selected as well. We like tapas restaurants but this one doesn't worth the money. The prices are the same as well-known and awarded tapas restaurants in Dublin but without the quality.
The place is small but cozy, definitely book before hand. The service was kind but slow as they take everyones order and make the dishes in big amounts. The presentation of the dishes were typical spanish, portions of 3. But there was salt in and on everything, even the salad under dishes and on the chocolate truffles. For this the prices for each dish added up quickly and all cocktail drinks were €12 A bit chilly near the door but with a light jacket and warm food easily solved. The overall experience was aesthetic unfortunatly what we csme for, the food, was disappointing. Vegetarian options: A large vegan and vegetarian variation
Great little spot in Blackrock market. Food is simple but really well executed and super tasty. Batata bravas were the best I've had. And those paella balls are right up there with the best arancini I have had. Add to that the low stress, friendly vibes. Cool spotFood: 5/5
